The DE pic is funny, and not undeserved, yet there’s a blind spot Left about their own cognitive biases. Regarding vaccinations, even a year ago our governor Gavin Newsom was making noises about requiring covid Vax for all K-12 students. I wasn’t worried about us since we had our then 4th and 6th graders vaxxed. We never got boosters, and we all got covid last July from a qiinceñera. I figured that was better than a booster.
Rumblings from Sacramento shortly silenced. The media here didn’t question it. Being involved in our district, I learned that despite a (annoying) flood of outreach, pressure and encouragement, student Vax rates never popped above 30%. Our district is 90% (or a little more) BIPOC, not a bunch of aggro white MAGAs. A mandate would likely have destroyed the public school system in Cali. So was it about safety or the almighty $?
New Victor: I’m sure it was about money. Although I’m personally a big fan of vaccination, it’s a hard thing to force on people, especially for a moving target like COVID-the always changing virus. So many kids didn’t go back to school (my church hosts a home school group that is almost 50% new home schooling families and about 60% BIPOC. These people just want their kids to get a decent education that the local school districts weren’t giving pre-COVID, and said education only has gotten worse.) They need to keep the kids they have left in school.
I’m not sure what brought this up, but I’m not boycotting Chinese food either. I have the best I’ve ever had about 6 blocks away and am on a first name basis with the owners…
The reason I brought it up was as I was talking with my delivery driver today about the Chinese restaurant she delivers for, it dawned on me that not only is the food on time, delicious, and affordable, but the owner is the unbelievably hard working.
There are few things (if any) in the realm of the service industry more competitive than the restaurant industry. I must take my hat off to our Chinese neighbors who step up, work hard, and compete for our business.
I don’t really care what their politics or ideology is. They are known by their fruit.
Since I’m teaching kids from China for the entire month of July, I will be eating a lot of Chinese food! I looked on the internet, and I didn’t see anything recent about avoiding Chinese food (and I love it, too, by the way). Weird!
I hope your birthday is a great day for you. How is your health? Your family?
Little Misty has been married over 6 years now. Has one little one and one on the way. Yes, that makes me a grandma. It’s so fun! Hand sewing a little pink unicorn for her now. lol
Hi Dusty! Yep, my twins turned 25 about 2 months ago. One got married last year to a wonderful man. The other works in costuming at Universal Orlando. I continue to deal with health challenges, but I’m blessed to have Jesus as my constant companion. I bet you are a fabulous grandma!!
“That is not fun at all. How can I pray for you?”
Mostly for chronic fatigue, back and neck pain, and that my insurance would finally authorize treatments that my dr wants to do. Also, I have some sessions for some therapy with a vocal pathologist next month. Hoping these will help me recover from a vocal cord issue that has really affected my ability to properly demonstrate singing techniques to my students as well as participate in worship leading. Thanks for asking. Any requests for you?
Captain Kevin and Micheal are in my Prayers nightly…..
i pray that G od gives us strength of mmind and body and wisdom thaat has its roots in a proper fear of God – do we really understand holiness?
65 has actually been wonderful for me…I’ll be 66 in a couple more months. My health challenges aren’t as great; but some things are tough. I do find that some young people do look to their elders for encouragement, and I take that as a serious ministry. It’s not hard to be young nowadays (not that is was for us, either).
Open what?? 🙂
I think Liam was playing in the keyboard!

Linn, You are probably correct. LOL
I’d like to blame it on Liam, but I think this one is on me…
Maga response to Pythagoras was hilarious!
Only the great orange ducktail would contend with Pythagoras.

I deplore the ideology of the Chinese government, but I’m not going to boycott Chinese food.
Had a fantastic Egg Roll this afternoon!
Jean,
I’m not sure what brought this up, but I’m not boycotting Chinese food either. I have the best I’ve ever had about 6 blocks away and am on a first name basis with the owners…
Michael, I’m jealous!

Jean,
Well said and I concur.
Our place is a mom and pop and they do everything…cooking, waiting tables, taking orders, etc….and they’ve been doing it for 30 years…
Did some one say food? Chinese food? Which one are you talking about Michael? I love good Chinese food!
Used to eat at the New Colony but now it’s closed down
Bummer

Hey, hey Captain Kevin!! Great to see you. How have you been? Your girls getting to be all grown up?

Awe, Captain Kevin, that is sweet to say.
Wow, congrats on gaining a son. Costuming? That sounds like a great and fun career.
Sorry to hear that you are still having health issues. 🙁 That is not fun at all. How can I pray for you?
Captain Kevin, you are always such a faithful friend. I love that about you.

It’s not nice to make a grown man blush ☺️
How is Buster? Please tell him hello for me.

If this is Michael’s birthay month, “Happy Birthday to UUUUU!”
Dusty,
Things are difficult, but God is good. All will be well…
Thank you Em!
Hey Dusty!,
Sola Fide here. Good to see you in print. Hope you come around more

Linn,
It is a great ministry…and much needed.
I’m hoping 65 is better than 64…
