Okay, I must jump in here to represent Philly. Most of you West Coasters will probably have no idea what I’m talking about, but Tastykakes rule! Just to name a couple favorites: Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes and Butterscotch Krimpets. Little Debbie and the others cannot compare.
As a Mainer, it’s my duty to say: Whoopie Pies. Two round mound-shaped pieces of chocolate cake with a sweet, creamy filling or frosting sandwiched between them.
Ginitan Halo halo (a Filipino delight)
Siaopao. (A steamed bread stuffed with sweet pork )
Kendal ginger cakes
Hostess cherry pie
Thats enough……I’ve gained 5 pounds just typing this .
Ok, savoury and/or crunchy:
*Guacamole and chips (freshly made)
*Really crispy french fries and garlic mayonnaise (freshly made)
*Hawaiian Bread stuffed with spinach/artichoke dip (not crunchy but oh so good)
*Really good focaccia bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Just plain old-fashioned potato chips, like they were made before the world moved on (as Stephen King would write), no plethora of flavors, no frills, no apps, just the real McCoy.
Most of the snacks I have loved aren’t good for my diabetes. I could eat shelled and salted pistachios and sunflower seeds like they were Turkish Delight!
I just bought a boatload of kale and our daughter is going to show me how to make kale chips which could be a godsend!
In the past… raisinettes, snowcaps, do-nuts, cookies and milk, rootbeer floats, pork rinds, trail mix with many m&m’s and raisins.
just coat them in olive oil, and a good salt, either a kosher or pink hymalayan, and bake to directions. they satisfy the need for crunch and salt, but are ever so healthy.
To dialogue means to be convinced that the other has something good to say, to make room for his point of view, for his opinion, for his proposals without falling, obviously, into relativism. And to dialogue it is necessary to lower oneβs defenses and to open the doors. http://www.calledtocommunion.com/2013/06/virtue-and-dialogue-ecumenism-and-the-heart/

Since Iβm sweet enough as it is π I prefer salty snacks:
Peanuts salted and roasted in the shell.
Popcorn, buttered (real) and salted.
Wasabi trek mix from trader joes.
Kettle brand crinkle cut potato chips with salt and ground pepper.
For something slightly sweet:
Fresh strawberries with a mild white cheese.
Fresh oranges dipped in melted dark chocolate.
For the occasional splurge:
Magnum bars, vanilla ice cream covered in dark chocolate with nuts.
