Beware Of The Sodomites!

“Sodom’s sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door. She was proud and committed detestable sins, so I wiped her out, as you have seen.”

(Ezekiel 16:49-50 NLT-SE)

“Then this message came to Zechariah from the LORD: “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.

“Your ancestors refused to listen to this message. They stubbornly turned away and put their fingers in their ears to keep from hearing. They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or the messages that the LORD of Heaven’s Armies had sent them by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. That is why the LORD of Heaven’s Armies was so angry with them.

“Since they refused to listen when I called to them, I would not listen when they called to me, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. As with a whirlwind, I scattered them among the distant nations, where they lived as strangers. Their land became so desolate that no one even traveled through it. They turned their pleasant land into a desert.””

(Zechariah 7:8-14 NLT-SE)

““At that time I will put you on trial. I am eager to witness against all sorcerers and adulterers and liars. I will speak against those who cheat employees of their wages, who oppress widows and orphans, or who deprive the foreigners living among you of justice, for these people do not fear me,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.”

(Malachi 3:5 NLT-SE)

Yes, that was a totally click bait headline…sort of.

We all know that if you post an article contemptuous of anyone in the LGBTQ arena, Christians will read it and clap their hands in agreement.

Hold your applause for a moment…

There is no doubt  that sexual immorality was one of the reasons God judged Sodom and Gomorrah.

It was not the only reason.

Sodom was guilty of of being grossly inhospitable and ignored the poor and the needy “outside her door”…the foreigners, the migrants.

In fact, the whole counsel of God tells us that God will judge and destroy those who oppress the “stranger among us”.

In fact, God judges oppression of the poor and the migrant in the same way He judges sexual immorality.

If you are supporting the cruelty toward migrants and their families that is the hallmark of this administration…you are as much of a Sodomite as any LGBTQ person.

This is not my estimation…it is the word of God.

The Bible does not dictate immigration policy….it dictates what the heart of a Christian should be when forming immigration policy.

Indeed, for any policy to have the support of “Christians” it must be policy that illustrates and conforms with the ethos of Jesus…compassion and mercy.

Otherwise, it becomes as immoral as any sexual sin.

It turns us into Sodom…and you know what happened there…

If a bunch of “Christian” leaders get turned to pillars of salt and their houses of worship destroyed fire and brimstone like Sodom above then maybe they will get a clue. But sadly not until then. That bit about judgment beginning in the house of the Lord comes to mind.

Historically it seems that the church chooses what sins it will condemn and which ones can “pass.” The current condemnation and rejection of immigrants is allowed while sexual sins among church leadership continue to abound, are often applauded, and are certainly not prevented.

I live in Southern idaho. 75% of the dairy, beef, and feed industry are staffed with illegal immigrants. Trump is only playing to his base. By playing I mean playing at this deportation scheme. Without these folk in my part of Idaho, this place shuts down, industry, schools, hell, even the churches . There is no way Little would deport these families, and it keeps getting hung up, blocked and other such shenanigans, oddly enough.
Deport the violent ones, the rapists and the pedophiles. But try to keep up with Obama.

  4. Jerod says:

“Playing at”, just FYI, to me is not much better. Your references to Jesus’ words and the OT scriptures always remind me of why the world hates him, and us.

    Jerod,

I’m guessing we’ll know what this reign of terror is going to cost us in a couple of months.

Yes, deport the criminals, with due process.

  6. Terry says:

Inscribed on the Liberty Bell is this:
“Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants” – Leviticus 25:10

That’s not the whole verse, which starts “Consecrate the 50th year, and proclaim liberty…” The verse is about the Year of Jubilee. Every 50 years they were to release all slaves, wave all debts, lost property was returned, etc. Everyone gets a do-over (except the ones profiting from all the debt, slavery, etc.)

This Americanizing of scripture has been around a very long time.
