Collect Of The Day: 03/12/2025

Collects are short prayers used in liturgical churches normally in conjunction with the daily Scripture reading and other prayers.

These will come from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer and the Daily Office.

For my own edification (if nothing else) I’m going to post these daily as often as I can, sometimes with a short thought or homily accompanying.

“Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan; Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and, as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.”

Anglicans sure can cram a lot of theology into small prayers…that is a thoroughly Trinitarian prayer.

When I was a younger man I thought temptation would subside as I aged…to a degree they have but more so, they have transformed.

The lusts of the flesh simply take too much energy…

My greatest temptation these days is simply not to care…to disengage from all the conflict and cruelty and live out my days quietly with my cats.

In doing so, I would be judging those I separated from in order not to stain my holy garments with their vice and choosing to live selfishly for my own comfort.
