Daily Prayer Resources
I’m confined by choice into the Apple universe, so my suggestions for apps with be for the iPhone and iPad.
Most have an Android companion.
The best one for reading is simply called “Daily Prayer”. I think it’s pretty and easy to use….it’s on my phone.
The Episcopal Church has both an app and a podcast… you can read or listen to daily prayers.
Many folks like the “Venite” app…and it is indeed a lovely choice for folks who want to use digital devices.
If I’m pressed for time, I go online to dailyoffice2019.com…I like the interface and you can either listen to the prayers or read and pray them yourself.
I started praying the Daily Office with the help of the Trinity Mission.…one of my favorite ministries.
Allegedly, you can also use the Alexa app and smart speaker, but I’ve yet to figure out how…
As Duane pointed out (and I concur) there is something special about holding a physical BCP along with an open Bible…but do what works for you.

It’s sad no one had commented on this post, as there are some good things here regarding the daily office.
I downloaded a daily office app because you had been praying the office…I stopped because someone close to me dismissed it entirely. We’re both from the same charismatic tradition where prayer is often long and free flowing, full of the Holy Spirit and absent any formal structure.
That was difficult for me and still is. I’m going to try the office again. I hope it will help me connect to the Lord in prayer daily like M’Cheyne is helping me connect to His Word.
BrianD,
Those long, rambling prayers are part of what drove me into the Anglican Communion.
I rarely sensed any of the Holy Spirit.
When you pray the Office you will be immersed in scripture and led through all the things the scripture commands us to do in prayer.
N.T. Wright, the scholar and Anglican bishop ,will often pray in tongues during his prayer times as well…
The key to life with the office is consistency…
Michael, do you have to do both morning and evening? Or can you do one or the other?
Whenever I have prayed through the office I’ve used The Daily Office app. It has the 2019 version of the BCP which I understand is the one the more conservative ACNA denom uses. I’m also listening to the daily podcast from Trinity Anglican Seminary, which also uses the 2019 BCP.
One thing I will tell you: having passed through various expressions of evangelicalism and pentecostalism, I can see the appeal of a more liturgical church….
BrianD,
I’m clergy so it’s required of me to do morning and evening.
For no clergy I make no legalistic demands…I simply say that it is good to start and end your day with prayer..I find evening prayer quite comforting…
