Free Saeed
On Wednesdays we encourage people to advocate for the release of Saeed Abedini.
We ask that you change your Facebook profile picture to his and that you “like” the “Free Saeed” Facebook page and participate in some of the activities that promote his cause.
We ask…that you remember him and his family in prayer…and that you refuse to give up on efforts to secure his release.
We will continue to do so until he is released.
The allegations of spousal abuse by his wife do not change the fact that Abedini is being unjustly held in a foreign prison for his faith.
The reactions to those allegations have followed the same course as is usual when dealing with well known Christians.
One group will deny the allegations are true and insist that the wicked media has created them from whole cloth.
Their heroes must be sinless and pure, modern day saints who have yet to be beatified.
Because they have done the beatification in their minds already, they will allow no information or evidence to taint their beatific vision.
These people are rank idolaters.
They will continue to support a fallen Christian, not for his sake, but for theirs.
Another group will discard the fallen one immediately.
They too demand that their heroes be sinless and pure, but they will do so because they believe they are practically holy and their leaders must be too.
These people are the modern day Pharisees who have removed any sort of spiritual mirror from their lives.
Both sides deny the faith once delivered.
Between these extremes there will be those who know the Gospel…who know that we are all sinners saved by grace and we remain sinners kept by grace until we get home.
We do not diminish the allegations against Saeed, we recognize that should the whole truth be told of any of us that truth would speak of our own sins and failures.
We do not negate the need for accountability for sin, we simply will wait until Abedini is free to hold him accountable.
We will never diminish or negate the impact of domestic abuse on its victims.
We are committed to pray for this family and to intercede for the freedom of a man in chains for his faith.
As for me and my house, we continue to pray for Saeed and Naghmeh and the kids… and for the Glory of God in the situation.
This is the kind of coherent, serious and generous hearted response we need. Thank you.
Thank you, BD…thank you, Paige.
I think there is good reason to believe Saeed’s mistreatment would increase based upon the unfolding story of last week. What do we need to do to push back?
BD,
Because of the nature of the allegations, it will be hard enough to maintain a consistent call for his release by more than a few.
This situation probably grew exponentially more dire and I’m at a loss as to what we could do.
Actually per report provided by the legal team to gain release, there was:
1) First a refusal to allow negotiations for his release during the recent nuclear deal.
2) Right after this, there were demands made for ransom to secure his release.
3) Then he was removed from a hospital, returned to prison (which are not like our own, here in the states) beaten, tortured, and terrorized, permitting his parents to see the result of such to then be able to report to those trying to secure his release.
4) No ransom was paid.
5) Parents told they could no longer visit Saeed.
6) Parents told to leave the area or lives might be in danger.
7) Then this about face done by Nagmed.
8) Legal team continues to hang in there.
We need to be faithful for his release and the protection of all involved. Nagmed, I trust knows what is best to protect herself and those whom are placed in her care, as well as, to secure the release for Saeed. Will continue to pray for wisdom, strength, and discernment for Saeed, Nagmed, and their parents. Will continue to pray for the legal team and those contacts whom are able to do so much more than most of us. Will pray that God will cause the hearts of those who hold him captive will find favor with Saeed. Will continue to sign petitions put out by this legal team.
From the Hills and Valleys of the English Lake District , WE WILL continue to pray for Saeed , Naghmeh the Children and all other family members WE WILL NOT desert them .
NOTHING IN MY HANDS I BRING , SIMPLY TO YOUR CROSS I CLING
” I’m at a loss as to what we could do.”
Michael and BD, prayer is the most powerful thing that we can do – the problem with my prayers are that i’m always trying to give God directions, to inform Him – oh, to have an honest, open heart of faith while lifting up Saeed, his family … and the others – this is the hard thing for me … trust God … what i really want God to give us is a Peter miracle … the prison door to open and an angel sending Saeed home to his family via airmail – God give us strength to pray and trust
Em,
Just wanted to share my thoughts…
We are what is called a “Free Moral Agency.”
In prayer we do get to have autonomy.
Your not actually giving God directions,if you study those great prayers of David in the Psalms, your just expressing yourself to God Almighty.
He told this to God:
“And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house.
Do as you promised, so that your name will be great forever.

thank you Surfer, good thoughts
“Do as you promised, so that name will be great forever.” amen … now, if i could just be 100% honest when i pray – as our Lord did – “not my will, but Thine be done.”
Ahh Em,
That is one of the great antinomys of Scripture.
Jesus also said, “Men ought always to pray,” You have not because you ask not.”
And of course so many other autonomous type statements.
If you shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and cast into the sea…
Knock and knock and it shall be opened…
We accept seeming contradiction between two beliefs or conclusions that are in themselves reasonable; a paradox, an oxymoron.
That is why I think we see Calvinism and Arminianism.
Both are valid and both supported Biblically.
That is where I like to stand, knowing that both theological ideas are valid at one and the same time.
Each of us settles down where we find peace it seems.
I lie it here, I also like it over there…LOL
opps…mistype, forgot the “K.”
“I like it here, I like it over there”
