Jean’s Gospel: We’re All Goin
1. People are goin, everyone knows,
Like leaves shaken in autumn, see them all go?
Sudden or expected, where did things stand?
Prepared for their goin or with nothing planned?
Man springs up like a flower, then withers away,
like a fleeting shadow at the end of the day.
2. People are goin, everyone knows,
The good and the bad, did they know it was time?
The rich and the poor, did they do their best?
The strong and the weak, did they finally find rest?
Man springs up like a flower, then withers away,
like a fleeting shadow at the end of the day.
3. God in heaven, He has numbered all of their days,
To them He gave limits that no one can pass,
Were they counting or cursing or wishing for more?
Living with joy or sorrow or was life just a bore?
Man springs up like a flower, then withers away,
like a fleeting shadow at the end of the day.
4. Sin entered the world through our father Adam,
When He took what God had forbidden him to eat,
Then death entered the world through Adam’s transgression,
And death spread to all men cause all men have sinned.
Man springs up like a flower, then withers away,
like a fleeting shadow at the end of the day.
5. But fear not your goin dear children of Adam,
Jesus Christ has come, your Redeemer from God,
On the cross, Christ bore our sins in His body,
To conquer death for all men by His innocent blood.
Dear children of Adam, your Savior is risen,
Sin, death and the grave, Christ now holds in derision.
6. By faith in Lord Jesus, God makes us His children,
He forgives us our sins, for the sake of His Son.
From this world we will go in God’s peace with without fear,
To our Christ, who in heaven wipes away every tear.
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
You cannot harm us, to the promises of our Savior we cling.
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
You cannot harm us, to our Savior, with thanksgiving, we sing.

Yes, all flesh is grass (1 Peter 1 ) and fades away, but if we’re honesr, deep down inside we know our souls go on forever… or so it seems to me. ..
As one of our recent Christian martyrs observed, “He is no fool to sacrifice what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose…”
