Why is something so obviously plentiful in scripture so controversial? I speak of dreams as a means of direction. How did Christianity become so rationalist and so devoid of sheep hearing the shepherd?

    Biblicism has killed us.

    We somehow became reformed Pharisees.

I actually pray for God to speak to me in dreams when I cannot find clarity in reason.

Speaking of superheros and faith, a shameless plug for a recent post of mine, interesting if you are one who believers the gifts of the spirit are still in operation.

And, I’m curious why the Hybells thing hasn’t come up sooner here, along with the post from the gospel coalition about celebrity pastors.

    BD,

My dreams are not very full of clarity, but I agree with your point…

    Corby,

It’s been an overwhelming few days personally so I haven’t been real quick on the trigger posting things.

I have some serious questions about the Hybels situation and I try not to promote the GC…

  5. London says:

Absolutely God speaks to people in dreams.

  6. John 20:29 says:

It would be of interest to me to read what experiences people today are having regarding hearing God in their dreams… I had a couple off the wall very detailed prophetic dreams of minor events (not dealing with my own life) before i became a Believer… they scared me – not the content, but the fact of them. They did become data points, however, convincing me that what our senses can evaluate is not all that there is…

  7. Xenia says:

God surely speaks to people in dreams, He has given me some very insightful dreams over the years. I have made some decisions based, in part, on some dreams. My guardian angel once appeared to me in a dream and gave me a stern warning about a troublesome matter. Most of my dreams are just crazy nonsense but a dream from God is quite different.

  8. John 20:29 says:

Yes, most of my dreams, if from God, would indicate He’d lost His mind…. ?
In what i took to be the Holy Spirit, He has spoken very clearly, interupting my thinking, when i was awake, however. Words that reassured me that He was in charge and working all for good.

  12. John 20:29 says:

Proofs of the resurrection … all logical, but one hit me this evening – with all the contemporaries who wanted to prove Jesus dead, wht didn’t they simply go dig up the body?
Yes, i’ve heard that the Jews claimed Jesus’ followers stole it… Really? They could get it and hide it? A dead and corrupting body? These brutal people couldn’t force the location from the devious, scheming followers or a local who witnessed their deed? .

“Up from the grave He arose
With a mighty triumph or’ His foes…”
We’ re still singing it today – loud, simple and clear

Thank you for the links, i’ll spare you all those i disagreed with. ?
