“The Land of Small Men” pretty much sums up the state of politics in America right now. Not that we need another Ronald Reagan cowboy type, but we do need politicians with the brains, experience, and commitment to take on the world we live in. Somewhere along the line we have confused wealth and commercial power as the requirements for governing a country. We are so far off in our assessment of leadership requirements.
The article on Steve Lawson just made me sad. To be that “spiritual” and that self-deceived is awful. Yet, there are abundant examples in Scripture of the same thing-King Saul, Samuel the prophet and his blindness regarding his own sons, the enormous potential of Samson and the way he wasted it on his own fleshly desires…we are capable of playing a public spiritual role and being blinded to our sinful tendencies. Whenever I learn of how the mighty have fallen, I remember that I can do that just as easily if I don’t keep careful accounts with the Lord.
Linn,
Well said.
I knew what Lawson was 15 years ago when I watched him for a week at a conference.
He wanted to be a “somebody” worse than anyone I’ve ever met…he’s somebody now…
The Robert Morris case. This time he’s in trouble because 1) Oklahoma has no statute of limitations for abuse of a child under 14, and 2) he left Oklahoma to go back to Texas. The clock stops for an abuser who “flees the state”. This might have other cases looking into legal specific involving abusers whose crimes crossed state lines.
Every dog has its day.
the land of small men provides some worthy measures by which to gauge oneself and forge a pathway forward. weighty.
Men with no “weight of soul” , the mass produced product of mega-churches and those of any size run by Protestant popes have proliferated for decades. That explains it all.
