I recall a discussion here where I focused on Jesus’ answer to those who were asking him about divorce, while some here insisted he was stating something else which is why LGBT persons in the US should be denied the privilege of state recognized marriage. I think the FormerlyFundie might have been lurking

Seeing our unborn talked about like auto parts is sickening. Are we a nation intent on the slaughter of the unborn and now selling off body parts as well? I would hope to see this addressed in the presidential debates and also by candidates individually as they try to make their case for the office of president.
10 counterfeit Christs are worth thinking on… how easily we exploit or go to seed on just one thing
Without question Jesus was condemning and rejecting easy divorce, but to suggest that his definition of creational intent has no application for the redefinition of marriage is self serving and deceitful.
The hate pouring out from that humanist on the tax the churches article almost melted my monitor.
1. The guys is woefully wrong on a couple key facts..
2. The premise is self-defeating. If religion is becoming less relevant, there will be less churches, less pastors to make less of an impact on the tax code.
3. The comments on charity were quite jaw dropping. Others can draw their own opinions but in mine it seems clear that even if a church is doing great good for the poor, the poor ought to get their help from the government damn it. (Probably written from a guy who never has had to qualify for public services in his life)
4. The guy is legal director of the American Humanist Association…which is a tax exempt organization.
Not that I expect much from people who dedicate their lives to direct hostility towards God – an effort far beyond even groups like the ACLU or Separation of Church and State.
But it still is something to see in print.
Morality is about more than abortion and homosexuality that is true.
Christianity is about more than the deity of Jesus too.
But Bernie Sanders, if you are wrong on those two issues…whatever else you are peddling, it sure isn’t morality.

Now I really admire this, I really do, this is how the church should work. I wont go into how I always dealt with the elderly even when they would be very critical of me, I actually learned a lot from it and always appreciated the input from someone who had more experience than myself. Just goes to show what a spiritual piece of trash I am. Booting people is much easier, it makes others afraid and toe the line and it allows the leader to have full control. That is the most effective way to do it. That is always good.
The Charity article was really good and provided some words to thoughts I’ve been having lately. Thanks for posting it.
The “tax churches” piece reminds me that I was more impressed with the case for removing the tax exemptions on the endowments of the Ivy league schools Slate ran last week.
pertinent to the Wilson situation …
