I’m going to the G3 Concert tonight (Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Phil Collen). Drop a little prayer for me, I’m going with a friend who is a rabid Trump supporter, and, well, you all know where I stand. Just a little prayer that politics doesn’t come up.

This will be my son’s first hard rock concert. Guitars galore.

  2. David H says:

Oh, and I was first. Yeah for me. Can I have a cookie.

  3. Dan from Georgia says:

Yes! Sounds like an awesome concert! I know Satch and Petrucci have been involved for quite some time with G3, but didn’t know that Phil Collen got involved. Cool!

    Will pray David H!

  4. John 20:29 says:

David, I was about to bake oatmeal raisin cookies, but we’re out of eggs.
My daughter (who hates oatmeal cookies) just took my 16 yr old granddaughter to a Gary Newman concert – they chatted with G.N. and my granddaughter came away saying, “He called me lovely! ” We hope the fact that he’s made a career without drugs was an object lesson …. we hope and pray… How hard it must be to raise children today…. harder than it used to be, I think

My son’s done pretty well. He’s a special education kid (dyslexia, and short term memory issues). He’s attending our local community college, taking a reading class, and a writing class. He’s struggled with school his whole life. It didn’t start to click until he reached the 12th grade. His high school special education program did wonders for him.

A bit of back story. I had to force the school district to test him for special education by threatening to bring in a attorney. After the the testing he was identified with dyslexia and short term memory problems. That was the first battle. A year latter they tried to place him in special day classes, we went to battle again. This time, we brought in an advocate. Jean nailed the school site for not following state special education standards. However, Caleb’s education still lagged because of the lack of needed accommodations and support.

High school was very different. He got all the help and learning tools he needed. But, what happened in elementary and middle school was devastating for him.

I’ve been in education forever. I’m now a teacher at a continuation high school in San Bernardino. It is the best place I’ve ever taught. I love these kids with all my heart.

  6. John 20:29 says:

David, you’re one of the good guys… My oldest has a degree in special ed, but now she substitute teaches all over the spectrum…. last summer she was. attending their community 4th parade – a group she’d taught were marching – when one of them spotted her – they yelled, Mrs Z and ran over to the curb… Don’t underestimate your worth to the kids
So glad to read that you knew how to advocate for your son… he’ll do well in life, I know… I raised mine in a nightmare school district – wish I’d known how to advocate back then… I thot they’d put you in jail if you took your child out of school.. maybe they did back in the 70s.. dunno

  7. David H says:

    I’ve said it here before.

I wish folks would quit underestimating the upcoming generation of kids. They have all the potential we had, and they want to change the world. It might look like what we want, but it might end up being really good.

  8. John 20:29 says:

David, those kids are good observers and they just might learn from watching ?
I know my grandchildren (most of them) are smarter and more level headed than their parents… I’ll hope along with you

  9. Scooter Jones says:

Funny, David is taking his young son to a concert where the weed will be passed around freely, yet he’s concerned about his Trump supporting friend? LOL

  10. The New Victor says:

I saw the first G3 concert with Satch, and I think Vai and Eric Johnson. I don’t remember the weed. At a Rush concert though? Yes. Not the last two tough, the last one I took my 5 year old to. Sounds like good music. I used to be a Dream Theater fan (I still have a hat signed by all of the original members except for either Myung or Moore… before they realized they could make money by selling VIP meet and greet tickets).

My son firms turns 8 next week. He’s as big as a 10 year old. I’m taking him to Kamelot and Delain in May. Ear muffs or plugs mandatory.

  11. Theophilus says:

Don’t judge me too harshly. I post this in fun:

  12. The New Victor says:

That video is funny. My buddy’s second cousin goes to a gif university. He’s kind of a mama’s boy, but even he balks at some of his dorm mates who go home to have their mamas cut their nails, no joke.

That being said, I bugged my millennial Ex-BIL to start a Roth for over a year. One time, he said it was too much to deal with (he moved back in with his parents after college). Ifound his response pathetic. Realizing my emotion, I backed off. A month ago, he told me that he had fully funded a Roth for 2017. Great job! I told him so.

  13. Theophilus says:

A Roth is a wise investment. Good device. Wish I started mine earlier

  14. Anon says:

    Welcome, one and all…

    To the S*hole shutdown!!

    Enjoy!

  15. Theophilus says:

    Kind of a slow night

  16. Scooter Jones says:

New Victor, my 34 year old son went to a Satchmo performance in Salem, OR last year. I have firsthand assurance the weed was freely flowing there. It was Oregon though, so what do you expect 😉

Btw, Joe and my son had a selfie moment, even gave my boy one of his picks. He was thrilled.

  17. Theophilus says:

    Scooter
I just returned to Medford from a 20 year stint as pastor of Calvary Chapel of Salem. It was a great run

  18. Dan from Georgia says:

    David H,

Let us know how the concert was and if your son liked it! Also curious if Phil Collen and gang played any Def Leppard hits.

    Was it a Trump-free night?

  19. Scooter Jones says:

That’s great, Theo. But can anything good come out of Medford? 😉

  20. Theophilus says:

    Scooter……yeah…pears!

  21. Dan form Georgia says:

Charisma Magazine has sunk, REALLY SUNK, to a new low with this one…

    https://www.charismanews.com/video/69199-ex-witch-breaks-down-how-you-ve-been-exposed-to-mind-control-programming

And I thought that the shaking lady prophet was bad enough.

  22. Captain Kevin says:

Theophilus, Many years ago, I spent a summer picking pears in Medford. Even though I was in my 20’s, it was grueling, backbreaking work. Now in my 50’s and I still don’t care for fresh pears.

  23. Captain Kevin says:

Anybody have experience using CBD oil or other products? I’ve heard it can be helpful for arthritis, fibromyalgia and depression, all three of which are part of my present health.

How do you know you’re getting the pure stuff? How do you use it and how much do you use?

  24. David H says:

Nice to see someone misunderstand my post. I just wanted a fun night, and it was.

John Petrucci stole the show. Closing “jam” was Satriani, Petrucci, Phil Collen, with surprise guest Vic Campbell (Collen’s Guitar partner in Def Leppard). They played “Goin’ Down,” “Superstition,” and “Highway Star.”

BTW, it was Trump supporting pal who was “freely smoking weed.” And, Scooter, that sounded like something out of a “Dragnet” episode.

  25. Dan form Georgia says:

Good to know Viv Campbell was on stage!…I think he had a cancer scare a while back.

  26. Scooter Jones says:

    Theo, pears & weed 😉

  27. filbertz says:

    Theo, Scooter:

    don’t forget Wild Bill Shakespeare!

  28. David H says:

BTW, Petrucci is a Trump fan. Which doesn’t change the fact that he’s one of my favorite players.

Campbell is still battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He is doing immunotherapy.

  29. Scooter Jones says:

David H., of course we should still like people inspite of their leanings politically. Heck, I like MLD and he’s nuts! LOL.

Unfortunately, that’s not always a reality.

I’m happy you all had a good time.

  30. Scooter Jones says:

filbertz, yeah I was a little harsh on Theo regarding Medford. There’s also David & Harry 😉

  31. filbertz says:

Theo has the hide of a rhino…no harm there.

  32. David H says:

    Scooter, it’s all good.

Really, not much weed smoking at the concert. Getting accosted by the homeless outside was no fun. We were at The Orphium in downtown LA.

  33. The New Victor says:

A guy I know took his 10 year old daughter to a concert last year in SFO. It was a venue off the beaten path. His D was sitting in the ground in line listening to her headphones when a homeless guy came by and threw a construction cone at her. It narrowly missed. The crowd ran the guy off. I know that these are “the least of these” but the aggression of some of the street people is out of control, especially in San Francisco. I do all that I can not to go up there anymore.

  34. John 20:29 says:

    ? ☔ ? =-O 😛 =-O =-O

  35. John 20:29 says:

Well the tablet got me again…. Game over Kevin, it must have been for you (and my daughter). the oh, poo was in sympathy for the most here
=-O 😛 =-O =-O Where that smiley face came from I do not know

  36. John 20:29 says:

I give up – I haven’t a clue as to who edits my posts on this tablet – not “most” HOST!
    CONSARN IT. ?
maybe God is trying to tell me something? dunno…….

  37. Kevin H says:

    Em,

I have no idea what you were trying to say, but I’ll take it. 🙂

  38. Eric says:

What an awesome game the Jags played today!! Such an amazing season, stoked for next year and all the excitement any given Sunday will bring. Hopefully we will have our soon to be grandbaby and the rest of the family moved and be all settled and I will get a chance to go see them as the hometown team.

Talked to my son today, he is at A school at the NNPTC in Charleston. He is not worried about his finances during the shutdown, my wife and I are however. We have put any extra spending on hold until the shutdown is over in case we need to pay any of his bills Wish Congress and the President would loose all benefits until they did their job.

  39. John 20:29 says:

Kevin, this tablet has me feeling like an idiot tonight…. LOL
Weren’t you rooting for the Eagles today? Consider the smiley face for you…
The rain and treats were for Michael … and all the Vikings fans tonight…

Now I’m done … God keep

  40. John 20:29 says:

Well, guess I’m not done… tears became treats? There is a demon in this tablet, think I’ll give it to a neighbor ?

    Eric, congratulations

  41. Theophilus says:

“Devil, come out of John’s computer!” 🙂

  42. John 20:29 says:

Out of this computer and into the neighbor’s cat? LOL
don’t want the devil loose in the house, but thanks Theo
