Spring can not come fast enough. Baseball!

I love listening to baseball games here, our announcers are really good. I don’t own a radio anymore so one of my first orders of business when I am on my feet again is to get an actual radio.

    How is everyone?

    Looking forward to baseball season!

Reuben, who do you root for? I’m a Minnesota Twins fan.

    I bleed Rockies purple, so I bleed a lot…

Spring training is showing sparks of good kids up and coming, we might have a better year this year! Maybe even 509?!? Haha! Probably not!

I finished the Alan Burnett/Paul Dini run of comics building on the continuity of Batman: the animated series. A pretty good run! Trade paperback of Season Three just got released last month. DC should make an omnibus of the entire Templeton/Burnett/Dini run at some point if they haven’t done something like that already.

With the deaths of Kevin Conroy and Arlene Sorkin last year and Dini finishing up a run in the comics it feels like the era of an actually great period in Batman story-telling has come to a close.

One aspect I love about baseball season is seeing the new blood come into the league…who are going to be the next superstars, etc.

Going to see Arthur The King with the family tomorrow. Something positive for a change. Looks good even if it’s Americanized.

    HI Reuben,

We have a summer league baseball team here that is comprised of college players who want to get some extra playing time in. The stadium is small so all the seats are good. Sometimes I run into Potato head at the game.

I went to a Mariner game a few years ago- way to crowded for me…….

  8. Reuben says:

    pstrmike,

We have a problem in Colorado that almost hilariously parallels the years of issues here on PhxP. It does not matter how bad our teams get, the butts in the seats are what matter, and we always have our butts in the seats. Haha! So all games are crowded. Badly. Even the cheap seats here at Coors Field are packed, especially during Rockies/Dodgers games. We know we will lose but we show up in force.

We have two things going on right now that justify the seats being full, the Avalanche and the Nuggets. Both look to be on the way to championships again. All games are sold out.

The Broncos are trash, and even after the biggest financial blunder in football history, and a horrible pair of seasons as a result, all games are sold out. Colorado just eats up the abuse.

  9. Reuben says:

Everyone have their brackets filled out?

    :eye roll:

I don’t even know who is in, save a couple Colorado teams. I can’t imagine the attention that needs to be paid to fill one of these out from an educated perspective. I listen to sports talk almost daily for fun, they rattle off stats that are clear down to player specific stats and create these elaborate cascades that make my head hurt.

    Reuben,

I gave up on basketball a long time ago…rarely watch either pro or collage.

It’s baseball season…and hockey season…and car racing…and NFL is now a year round topic.

I play in a fantasy baseball league…but it’s hard keep up with all young ones in the game…

  11. Reuben says:

I have to limit to baseball. I don’t have the bandwidth. So much of what happens in fantasy baseball depends on what they see in spring training, so yeah, hard to keep up. It still makes for a fun distraction.

  12. Dan from Georgia says:

I don’t get the obsession with college basketball and brackets. A year or two ago I pinned down a co-worker (who is sports-savvy) about how the ^%@# can anyone fill out a bracket of 64 teams and have any reasonable level of knowledge of 64 teams…his response was that “there is no way anyone can have that level of knowledge and fill out a bracket…entertainment purposes only”. For me, its MLB, NFL, and the poster child for ESPN6….Strongman competitions!

  13. Reuben says:

Dan, I got into highschool basketball a bit. I could only keep up with super local schools. Like I said, the bandwidth has to be nuts…
