Curious. It can’t be completely benign, as it all depends on the intent of the owner of the data the AI retrieves and trains itself with. Most likely its being dumped into a file somewhere in a Utah desert – or something.
Batman: Caped Crusader is a bit of a mixed bag. Some elements I liked and some I didn’t but anyone expecting it to be any kind of continuation of Batman: the animated series already saw this wouldn’t be the case. I disagree with some writers claiming the new take on Catwoman “doesn’t work”. Her zippy and frivolous thievery is a needed counterpoint to the more grimdark loner Batman on offer in this series (not that I’m against all versions of Batman like that).
The Clayface story worked. Penguin as Oswalda, not really. It’s both not as bad as the antiwoke Youtube crew have made it out to be but not as daring/innovative as some of the cheerleaders have made it out to be. Their take on Harley Quinn is in-name-only and for me Arlene Sorkin was “it” and nobody but Tara Strong picking up for Sorkin in the Arkham City game actually worked.
More Bat-commentary than maybe some would want but I guess I”m saying for Michael’s sake that I thought this new take on Batman was “ok” but I’m not sure if he’d want to watch it, either.
Richard Bauckham’s new memoir about macular degeneration is definitely worth reading, btw. Read through it last week and it’s a breezy read excepting the parts where he describes being treated by the UK healthcare system and that reads like a horror story. There are some things the British healthcare system is nowhere near as good at dealing with as healthcare in the US. Reading that from the diagnosis of macular degeneration to an actual treatment was at least half a year was terrifying reading. Of course Bauckham had completely lost the ability to read or recognize faces in one after half a year of not getting any treatment. And why? Because of the time it took to get appointments set up. There’s the high cost of care but with eye care you literally can’t afford to dally. Literacy and illiterate blindness can be separated by a few months, a few weeks or even literal days.
But Bauckham is a great prose stylist and it was incidentally good to learn Son of Man Volume Two is mostly complete for those of us who have read his work over the decades.
Just finished Young Woman and the Sea. If you forgive the broad artistic license, it is very good. Especially the last 30 minutes. A very appropriate movie tonight, especially for a father of a daughter.
Yeah, it’s really the end of an era for Batman. I think the power player behind the scenes was Andrea Romano. She’s the one we have to thank for so much brilliant voice-casting. She also did fantastic voice casting work on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Part of why later shows don’t seem at the same level is she had to retire at some point.
Dini and Burnett’s run earlier this year and last was good stuff. Good thing all the BTAS related stories have been collected into two great big omnibus editions this year, finally. The flip side is Caped Crusader let Bruce Timm do all the stuff he wasn’t allowed to do on BTAS and, well, I’m tempted to say that, based on the stuff he wanted to do that WB wouldn’t let him do in BTAS, part of what made BTAS really great was what Timm was NOT allowed to do. 🙂
What is interesting in Conroy – Eisenburg dynamic is that one could see the possibilities of a WonderBat. It was also subtlety hinted at ZSJL. I know realistically it probably would not work (especially if Batman is in total anti-social, total douche mode), but I think it makes more sense and pairs better than SuperWonder. To use a music analogy, think of WonderBat as Soprano and Gravel:
What is your opinion on an ideal size for a church? Where intimate and deeper connection fellowship can occur?
Do you think it’s possible in whatever size church, big or small? Or do you think there must be intentional smaller churches to see the *ideal* occur?

The range of about 50-150 people to directly manage, supervise, train, etc. is historically accurate.
The size of a Roman Army century, a modern infantry or armor company (a US Armor Company has 62 officers and men for example), and the like falls within this range.
Eric – Ever since 2009 every “crash” has been a “buy the dip” opportunity. I’m sure the Fed will promise a rate cut in September, or likely have an earlier emergency cut. Eventually, as this impacts the world everyone from around the world will pile back into the U.S. stock market. If I’m wrong, there is something deeply broken in the U.S. financial system itself.
I’m glad I attend a church of around 50. On a Sunday when all the college students are in attendance, we might have 70-80. Several of our congregants make sure they are well cared for.
Rumor has it you will make an appearance in the 2nd season of “The Rings of Power”, as Peter Jackson did not include you as you had had little to do with the grand story-line.

Any Batman animated series without Kevin Conroy doing the voice is just not the same. Period.
That being said, the interplay between Conroy’s Batmen and Susan Eisenburg’s Wonder Woman was always interesting in the various animated series.
And of course, the late David Warner needs to be mentioned. 😀

Just my personal opinion…but if the goal is making disciples and spiritual formation, the most people one pastor can be effective with is about 50.
Making disciples demands that you actually know and engage with people…teaching on Sunday is the easy part…
