God gave me a vision that America will be destroyed by a nuclear holocaust!

I saw my elderly dad in October while he was in rehab for a fall and he didn’t recognize me. He is back at his senior facility , and now in memory care. We had a FaceTime conversation today, and he recognized me! He’s still foggy about many things (and probably will continue to be), but it was the best Christmas gift God could have ever given me!

    Linn,

    What a wonderful gift…hang on to it…

    Zach,

    Time for a med check…

Good grief. And with an exclamation point no less.

    Bubonic plague!

Too much rich holiday food there, Zach? Heartburn can feel like a nuclear holocaust.

How many total pastors/preachers got exposed and fired/resigned etc in 2024?

    Steve Lawson…

I know it was quite a few.

Michael Brown has an ongoing controversy…

I told my wife last night that I think I know what hell is like. It is a place where non-religious Christmas music plays non-stop. To top it off George Michael’s song is played every 20-30 minutes for all eternity.

On a side note I have never been a fan of traditional Christian Christmas music but after this year I found myself longing for “Holy Night” or even “Little Drummer Boy” to play in an eight hour shift.

Okay enough belly aching about crappy Christmas music.

  9. Captain Kevin says:

Shawn, I’m so with you on the crappy Christmas music.

Just finished ‘God Gave Rock & Roll To You: A History of Contemporary Christian Music’ by Leah Payne… What started out in innocence morphed into apostasy. While it is easy to be nostalgic for what once was, one cannot ignore what it has become… A worthwhile read.

  11. Dan from Georgia says:

Shawn and Captain Kevin…I have my “Axis of Evil” of Christmas songs that I try my best to prevent my mind and spirit being harmed. The one you mentioned is one of them. The others are, forgive me…Christmas Shoes and Santa Baby.

  12. WenatcheeTheHatchet says:

The ONLY acceptable version of Santa Baby is the old Eartha Kitt version because when she sang it she knew the song’s character was an appallingly self-absorbed person.

Most people are not going to regard Messiaen’s Vingt Regards Sur L’Enfant-Jesus as Christmas music … or maybe even music but movement IV is gorgeous

  13. Dan from Georgia says:

WenatcheeTH…I have to admit Santa Baby is the least cringe of the 3 in my book. I could easily have appended Mariah Carey to my Axis designation.

    Yes.

Gives me joy to think of Jimmy and Rosalynn reunited.

    Great piece about Carter’s faith.

I tried to nudge myself back into some semblance of Christianity by joining a facebook group called Christian Rock/Metal or something like that, as that music was a huge part of my young Christian life. This morning, I saw Christian’s eating themselves over former members of a prominent band from the 80’s 90’s. Gossip. No documentation, just slander. Christian pornography. I got actual anxiety over it and had to unfollow the page. It got me to thinking, I don’t really have even simple things in common with Christianity anymore. It’s kinda depressing.

    Just venting.

  18. Dan from Georgia says:

    Reuben,

I might have been in that FB group also. Actually I was in about 20 groups.

Now I am only in 2: A reunion group of some friends of mine, and a high school group. That’s it.

ALL the rest of the groups had the same problems…fighting, gossip, politics, posting crap/false information (which seems to be FB as a whole nowadays), moderators that are non-existent/uninvolved, and bots/spam.

Heck, I couldn’t even escape garbage in a artists/painting group…people posting so-called masterpieces of theirs, claiming that it’s the first time they painted. BS!
