They said that it was a satirical meme having nothing to do with racism; that was so implausible that they then said he re-posted it without watching it all; that was also implausible so they then said a staffer did it without authorization; they then said he had nothing to apologize for without either committing to the idea that the poster was a racist staffer or a racist president, but that no apology was necessary. We have a morally depraved and addled administration running our country, and this is just the latest evidence. It will get even worse.
I saw a social media post wherein the poster renamed this administration — from the Trump administration, to the Epstein administration. That is my name for it from now on. That is its level of depravity and evil.
Hi Robert! My outrage and bewilderment are taking another direction today. Mostly bewilderment. I’m completely baffled why Turning Point and TBN think they are doing Christ’s work by showing their “alternative patriotic” halftime concert simply because the featured performer in the real halftime show (who is American) mostly sings in Spanish.
Have things really deteriorated to the point where people are claiming that Jesus wants everybody to only speak English?
Nationalism, leaning hard in the direction of white nationalism, is the real religion of large swaths of the American populace. That’s a fact. I don’t watch or like football, and I won’t be tuning into this year’s Super Bowl, but I’m very glad they have some halftime acts that there’s good reason to believe will be openly and provocatively defiant of white nationalist Christianity and the regime that has brought it out from under the rocks (and I suspect that Green Day may give Bad Bunny a run for his money in the provocative defiance department).
Bad Bunny is known for some gender bending ( hot pink shirts and long manicured nails), alliance with LGBTQ+, and severe criticism of the US government after hurricane Maria in 2017 (which was inexcusable, in my opinion). He is now critical of US immigration policy. So, yeah, not loved by “true” patriots. I’m not a great fan of Bad Bunny’s music, but I understand his criticism around the way the US government treats Puerto Rico. Personally, I think a lot of the government/ TPUSA criticism is just another smokescreen to distract our attention from what is really important right now , which I personally believe is the erosion of our constitutional rights. Just minor things like people being murdered by ICE agents on city streets, people being disappeared to internment camps in south Texas and the stealing of ballot boxes in Georgia. I could go on…
Linn,
The feds taking the ballot boxes from Fulton County is one of the most ominous developments for the country as a whole. It is a clear signal that control of the narrative about 2020 is will be used to control election results narratives at the midterms this year, and beyond. Our federal government, especially the executive branch, are now the biggest adversaries of free and fair elections, and democratic institutions and processes in general, in our country.
it is ironic to me that tp (toilet paper) USA promoted a halftime alternative. Without the super bowl, there is no “half time.” From all accounts it was a freakishly non-entertaining program (I almost said propaganda) where kid wock couldn’t even lip sync and heir-iKa KirK wouldn’t even show her face on her namesake programming.
for what it’s worth, I watched the actual SB .5 show and concluded it was the best one I’ve seen in years. I cannot think of one that had the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm from everyone involved. They took the high road on political issues and emphasized unity while displaying real pride of their Puerto Rican heritage, which, by the way, is a part of our collective culture.
“Less than 14% of nearly 400,000 immigrants arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in President Trump’s first year back in the White House had charges or convictions for violent criminal offenses,’ CBS News reports.”

“The spirit of love and reconciliation that Jesus of Nazareth taught 2,000 years ago was not particularly evident in the words of the president.
Of course, it never has been. No matter. The audience of some 3,500—the great majority of whom undoubtedly claim to be followers of Jesus—responded to Trump’s remarks with a standing ovation.”
I don’t watch the Super Bowl but I’m wondering how stuck in transit I’ll be when the big parade happens this week to celebrate. If it gives me more time to read Justin Michael Reed’s recently published The Injustice of Noah’s Curse (Oxford University Press, 2025) then, fine, but I don’t thrill to the idea of Seattle traffic being even worse than it usually is because of a parade for a game I don’t follow.
I’m fairly sure I was watching episodes of Frieren during the game (trippy that the voice of Frieren is also the voice of Anya Forger in Spy x Family). Nobody who knows me would be surprised to hear that I was watching anime rather than the game on Sunday.
The commute home could be lame and long this Wednesday. Read about the planned parade last night.
I’m sorry to hear that, JD. I’ve had that experience myself, more than once, before I started attending my current church. Just said a prayer on your behalf. It can seem difficult, even impossible, to find a good church because so many of them seem like a cross between a business and people putting on a show that’s 10-20 years out of date. Hang in there.
Congrats on the Seahawks on a decisive win over NE in their Superbowl rematch. I guess me here in the Boston area will see how things go next time. Go New England for 2 out 3. 😀
Surprised nobody called it Interstate 90 Superbowl.
Ra’s al Ghul, thanks, though the Wednesday traffic in town was bad because of a mixture of the parade and problems with transit (heard there was actual copper theft along part of the rail line). There was also a lockdown at a light rail station because of a suspicious package but, fortunately, nobody was hurt. I DID hear that dozens of illegally parked cars got towed the day of the parade. The homebound commute was chaos. It made me wish we hadn’t won for a while.
Ironically, I’ve never been a football fan, although I can stand to watch a game now and then (which I can’t say about baseball). The only athletic event I followed for a while in my callow youth was the Tour de France. Back in those days Greg LeMond won, after all. Now, decades later, I believe his wins were legit (he only beat Fignon by a mere seven seconds, if Fig Newton had just cut the ponytail he probably would have won).
But football, eh, I can be happy for my fellow citizens even if I spent SuperBowl Sunday watching anime instead. 🙂
I made the mistake of getting on social media and reading the jubilation and/or outrage surrounding the Super Bowl halftime show. I don’t know one single thing about Bad Bunny. I do know things about Kid Rock, and think it was probably a perfectly “logical” choice for TPUSA to choose a filthy disgusting human like him.
What happened is that it distracted from the elephant in the room, Trump, in all probability, raped children. All this Christian white nationalist flag waving patriotic drivel is used to distract the media, and the people from the issue that should be hammered until, in my not so humble opinion, everyone on that list is buried under a prison.

John, I’m afraid the answer is yes. As ridiculous and outrageous as it is. I don’t think it’s true if most of us, but it is of the current regime.
John in AZ,
I’m certain that they want Jesus himself to learn how to speak English, and, more importantly, how to act white.

I think I saw Jesus booing Vance in one of those videos from the Winter Olympics.

Somebody wake me when the Super Bowl is over.🤫
Yup, it was a krappy super bowl this year.
Bob.
Bob. It’s Monday morning. The Seahawks won.
The USA survived the Alternative Halftime Show.
Barely.

I actually visited a Baptist church. Not friendly or hostile, but I didn’t feel at all welcome. Another church mistake now in the rear view mirror.

Bondi sounded like she was on an episode of the old Jerry Springer show rather than before the House Judiciary Committee today.
But the old racist in the Oval Office loved the three ring circus show she put on.
Robert F,
I just saw some of that. She was using orange man’s deflect and insult playbook. It was vile.
The economic destruction of Cuba that Trump has implemented is hideously cruel. He has no concern for the starvation of men, women, and children.
