Prayer & Praise
O God, our sovereign and our shepherd,
who brought again your Son Jesus Christ from the valley of death,
comfort us with your protecting presence
and your angels of goodness and love,
that we also may come home
and dwell with him in your house for ever.
Abide with us, Lord, for it is evening,
and day is drawing to a close.
Abide with us and with your whole Church,
in the evening of the day,
in the evening of life,
in the evening of the world;
abide with us and with all your faithful ones, O Lord,
in time and in eternity. Amen.

remember in prayer
prodinov – I request prayer, still processing Ephesians 6. Young daughter got baptized recently. Little prayer warrior she is…my other little one, 5 is still is the making. However, this week, Monday after he peacefully went to bed, he was screaming upstairs, he was in a zombie state, curled up in a ball, still in a catatonic state, saying something was attacking him. He did not even acknowledge our initial prayers nor presence. Thinking nightmare, he slept with me for 3 nights. Last night, again in his bed, sound asleep, the attacks came and the wee one was unresponsive until I grabbed him, took him downstairs where he slept peacefully. I am still processing these dark attacks since they are unlike anything I have experienced. Prayers guys…it is unfair for a 5 yr old to be attacked….

Praying for the victims of the Cali fires.
irregardless of the disney reference, my daughter sent me this last week and i found it haunting… not very professionally done, but maybe a good sound as we pray for those affected by the fires?

I seldom ask, but,
Saturday night my old best friend, Jim, died of a heart attack at the age of 62 – leaving a wife and three children. I’m heartbroken. Please pray for his family.
My wife’s best friend, Norma, is in Santa Rosa. Her house is burning as I write. Please pray for her.
Duane,
Thank you for alerting us to your #7 on a different thread. Your requests are in my prayers.
Lord, have mercy.
Duane, praying for you, Jim’s family, and Norma.
May the Lord bring comfort, peace, and protection.
Thank you all….
Duane, sorry about the loss of your friend. I am sure that you have noticed that we are of the age where we go to very few weddings and our calendars get crowded with funerals.
I pray that your wife’s friend came out safe in the fire. My son was evacuated out of Napa at 3 am yesterday morning and at 1 pm my daughter called to let us know that she had been evacuated out of her home in Anaheim Hills as the Corona fire from last week reignited.
Tough times.

Many thanks. My wife’s friend, Norma, got out with her two dogs and a briefcase full of papers. The house is totally gone (it was just up the street from the Hilton in Santa Rosa).
Then last night, we heard my Aunt’s house is under threat in Orange County. The fire has apparently closed off the canyon she is in. Waiting to hear more.
It’s been a tough few days…
I don’t post here much anymore; however, I read this blog every day. I’m thankful for the many friends that I have come to know these past 11 years. Most of you I have never met face to face.
Those who know me are aware of the struggle that I have had over the years regarding returning to pastoral ministry. Just last winter, I asked for prayer because I was being considered by a church in Washington. Shortly after requesting prayer, I removed my name from consideration because my wife and I were not ready to leave family. I asked God then to remove the desire to pastor again and help me be content with teaching at a Christian school, but desire is stronger than ever.
In recent weeks, my wife and I, after much prayer, have agreed that I should spend whatever time I have left doing what God called me to do. We are both on Social Security, and we are asking God to open a door to a small church somewhere in the US who want a pastor to love them and faithfully teach the Word. I have recently applied to churches in Idaho and Montana. My pessimism causes me to believe there are not many places that want a pastor in his senior years, but God knows.
I asked Michael before I posted this because I do not want to be self-serving, but friends, please pray that God would open a door for my wife and I to minister. We are ready!
Bob, I will amen your prayer.
Bob, as much as we debate who can pastor a church… i am reasonably certain that your service is desperately needed now – don’t let any legalism stop you – praying (maybe, you’ll find a place in Washington State 🙂 )
reading the posts and praying with all… thanking God for the good reports on loved ones and family that have escaped the fires…
Praying with you bob
Duane, so sorry for your loss. Praying with you as well
