the new Victor – pray for God’s protection and mercy upon my children, who’ve been through a lot, including witnessing domestic violence in the other home, and that I am strong and engaged enough to lead them so they don’t turn out like the sons of Eli. Yes, I always go worst case. I thank and praise God for that which I have been given to steward, especially my lambs.

Bob Sweat – we are asking God to open a door to a small church somewhere in the US who want a pastor to love them and faithfully teach the Word. I have recently applied to churches in Idaho and Montana.

  8. The New Victor says:

A friend at work lost his eldest son over the weekend in a head-on collision. The boy had just started college, pre-med. What we do in the Silicon Valley is really a small community. I first worked with him in 1992. In 1993, I remember meeting his then girlfriend, who later became his wife, when he brought the lady to our lab to visit. I left for Oregon in the late ’90s. We all moved on to different companies. We ended up back together in the late ’00s, having worked in the same group since then. I’ve seen his children grow. He has seen mine.

I was off Friday to watch my kids, and this morning, saw his last email, a technical question. Scrolling down, the email from our boss telling us the news…. I texted him my sorrow, and:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, Who comforts
us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those
who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we
    ourselves are comforted by God.
    2 Corinthians 1:3-4

He said thanks. The family are Roman Catholic, but my impression is that they follow the faith, rather than “in name only.”

A year ago, when my daughter was 4, I was out of the room and she came looking for me, wanting to be held (no particular reason). I said, “Can I have just 10 minutes of Daddy Time?” She was in a phase of constantly wanting to be held or carried such that it sometimes interfered with me cooking. She replied, “Daddy, you have Daddy Time when we are with Mommy.” (joint custody) Ouch! Out of the mouths of babes…

My kids have seen things they shouldn’t have had to in their short lives, and I realize that at 5 and 7, they haven’t seen nothin’ yet. Life is but a vapor, and I pray for God’s comfort be upon my friend, his wife, the younger teen brother and sister, and their whole family and circle of loved ones.

  9. Michael says:

    Amen, Victor…

  10. Linnea says:

    BD…praise God!

Would you pray for John’s wife who is having lung cancer surgery tonight?

Also, another friend, whose adopted son committed suicide a month ago, has asked for prayer for two other of his adopted siblings: Jon and Sarah. Please pray that they would know God’s love and would follow Him out of horrible lifestyles to freedom.

    Thank you!

  11. John 20:29 says:

i pray that the surgery went well and Lord grant mercies as she recovers now…
praying for Jon and Sarah, for their souls to rest in Christ and prosper there

  12. John 20:29 says:

Reading and praying for those whom Dusty has posted here this evening…

it occurs to me that the place tGod has for Bob Sweat and wife may be in the church of a struggling pastor who desperately needs a friend and counsellor who understands… just felt led to share that – dunno – praying still
