Prayer & Praise
Holy God, to whom we turn in our trouble, and from whom we receive life and well-being even in the face of death;
We gladly and without reservation assert:
You are the one who gives life;
You are the one who hears our prayers;
You are the one who turns our jungles of threat into peaceable zones of life;
You are the one who has kept us since birth, who stands by us in our failure and shame; who moves against our anxiety to make us free.
You are the one who does not hide your face when we call.
So we praise you.
We worship you.
We adore you.
We yield our life over to you in glad thanksgiving.
As an act of praise, we submit our sick and our dead to you;
As an act of praise, we submit more and more of our own life to you;
As an act of praise we notice your poor, and pledge our energy on their behalf;
As an act of praise we say “yes” to you and to your rule over us.
We say, “yes, yes,” Amen and Amen.
Walter Brueggeman

Oh, how this encouraged me this morning! “You are the one who turns our jungles of threat into peaceable zones of life;” Just printed out my boarding pass for trip tomorrow behind the Orange Curtain. Covet all your prayers and thoughts, as you all will remain in mine. So grateful for this community!
Amen to Brueggeman’s prayer, too.
Praying, Nonnie….
Praying for your trip to Narnia, Anne 🙂
Anne and Nonnie, praying here too.
Normally, I wouldn’t ask for prayer re: a headache, as I get them often, but I’ve had one for over 48 hours now. Not as bad as a migraine, but it is a temple pounder, and I just can’t seem to shake it.
Praying for Anne.
Praying for Captain Kevin.
praying for you all….
Heavenly Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and David. You alone are worthy to be praised. Your mercy and love are abundant. Your wrath is justice but You spare us from it. We are worthless of Your presence but You are always there. We have nothing to offer You but You offer us eternity. Accept our praise as an admission to our worthlessness and your Holiness and Righteousness. To the Father, Son and Holy Spirit I pray. Amen.
Anne, may you have a blessed time in the OC.
Kevin, I am praying that you awake this morning and that headache is completely gone.
Blessings to the Phx Prchr. family.
praying and amening the list above as i do my final packing
God keep all close in His love and comfort
p.s. to L and B,’s #8 … God is good at mending, eh? walking with a limp with Him is waay better than running on our own to “we don’t know where” (even if we think we do)
just checking in on the prayer thread, with the new job, no time to read the others. Praying for the needs tonight. will catch up with the rest over the weekend. God keep.
My wife was having lunch with a co-worker in a small work room at the school when part of a sandwich lodged in my wife’s throat. At first her friend thought my wife was playing a joke on her when she realized my wife was actually choking. She performed the Heimlich procedure and nothing was happening and my wife was not doing well. Her friend ran to the phone to call for help when the food dislodged and my wife was able to breathe. Her friend saved her life. I am so thankful she didn’t panic and was able to help my wife.
E, wow!
Reuben, it’s odd in the sense that she comes home and was fine and then relates what happened. Thank God she wasn’t alone when it happened.
Hi erunner, so glad your wife is ok…that is scary. Btw, back in my college days, by dad and I traveled to Cincinnati for a wedding…ended up sitting at a table with Dr. Heimlich and his family…very nice people. His oldest son, a completed Jew (is that the proper term?) ended up inviting me to a couple Bible studies which I enjoyed — eventually I understood and received the gospel message a few years later. Anyway, whenever I hear the term “Heimlich maneaver” I smile because it takes me back to a fond memory and time in my life. 🙂
mk, Thanks for sharing that story. My mother refers to herself as a completed Jew although I’m sure some would not approve of that label! Hope you’re well…
I have about a week to find a new job…or have one find me.
Prayers appreciated.
How about an exciting career in the Commercial/Industrial HVACR industry?!? You get to spend most of your days in one of two working conditions! On a roof in the snow, or on a roof in the blazing sun! You get a van with piles of heavy tools! You get to rope everything up to roofs by hand! Sometimes you get lucky, and have work in giant freezers in the middle of the summer! Sometimes you get even luckier and have work in huge server rooms in the middle of the winter!
