    remember in prayer

    London – My nephew had a job interview at a place that could end up being a wonderful opportunity and career for him. Prayers for his success at this endeavor would be appreciated.
    I’m so excited for him!

    Captain Kevin – My blood pressure is too high, causing my left ventricle to work too hard. Dr. added a second BP med and was genuinely concerned. Going back for follow up. I’d be lying if I said this doesn’t scare me.

    Michael – heart aneurysm and a bad valve, bad back and neck issues.

    The New Victor – I found out yesterday that my mother was moved by adult protective services into a skilled care facility. Her mental acuity had lapsed so far that she wasn’t safe in the strip motel in which they had previously placed her, being kicked off her property (think the worst episode of Hoarders, but worse). I’m going to visit her now at the end of the month now that she’s safe and I’ll be safe from criminal accusations. God is the father to widows and orphans. She was the latter at 12 and 14, emancipated at 16. She was the former in 2003, though not in the biblical sense since she was the provider to her disabled husband.
    They’ve warned me that her mental state has deteriorated significantly. Living in a dank, damp collapsing house filled with black mould and animal waste probably contributed to her decline faster, but that was her choice. I have seen this coming for over 15 years…

    j2theperson – There’s a guy who is, wrongly, accusing our church of gross financial mismanagement if not outright illegality. There is no evidence his accusations are true and we actually seem to be on solid financial footing; however, we’ve already had at least one person leave the church because of him and there are quite a few people concerned about his accusations. Please pray he does not cause serious damage to our congregation, that people will recognise him for what he is, and that we will come out stronger for having gone through this.

    Captain Kevin – Please pray for my oldest daughter. She is separated from her husband. This is probably the 3rd time in the 3 years they’ve been married. I’m not sure who is more at fault or if there is any abuse, so I just pray for God’s will. They are believers, I think.

    brian – Not really asking for prayer just a thought. I will be getting some injections because of a back injury and will be talking with a surgeon concerning a disc fusion. My main prayer use this to help me be a better teacher and Christian, thanks.

    Captain Kevin – Asking prayer for a new pain issue. Something is going on with my jaw. Have seen 2 doctors. Dentist will need to be next. Possibilities include dislocated jaw, muscle cramps, and root infection in teeth. Hurts to chew, swallow and yawn.

    JD – Marshal whose mother told him that she doesn’t love him

    John 20:29- my cousin in barring a miracle he’s entering the final stages of his cancer… prayers have been appreciated and heard. .. They’ve brought him some good months. Jerry married his high school sweetheart and prayer for her and their 3 children (adults with families) would be so welcome now. They’ve been a close couple and now, even tho she is a Believer, she will face growing old without her life partner…

    JoelG -I begin the difficult road of filing for custody of my 2 younger teenagers. I found hundreds of explicit photos of my youngest daughter that I’m sure have been shared. My ex wife is clearly not as concerned as she should be as she is a Narcissist. This will cause strained relationships with kids and ex but I have no choice as I want to prevent whatever my youngest would do next with herself.
    -My ex, daughter and I met to talk, discipline and love on our daughter. We’re all in the same page moving forward and she will be getting counseling.

    John 20:29 – i have a son dealing with a gorgeous 16 year old daughter who is trying to come to terms with womanhood and who is in the custody of her bi-polar mother,

    Linnea – Jon and Sarah. Please pray that they would know God’s love and would follow Him out of horrible lifestyles to freedom.

    Linnea- John’s wife who is recovering from lung cancer surgery

    London- my mom who had surgery for pancreatic cancer and back surgery for three fractures in her spine. Caretaking is hard work at times and it seems that I lose track of time pretty easily

    the new Victor – pray for God’s protection and mercy upon my children, who’ve been through a lot, including witnessing domestic violence in the other home, and that I am strong and engaged enough to lead them so they don’t turn out like the sons of Eli.

    Bob Sweat – we are asking God to open a door to a small church somewhere in the US who want a pastor to love them and faithfully teach the Word.

    prodinov –son, 5 having nightmares, I am still processing these dark attacks since they are unlike anything I have experienced.

    Michael, Rick, Joel, Dan, capt. Kevin, Owen – wand to hear from God in their prayer life

    JTK- I’d appreciate your prayers for an ongoing back issue.

    the new Victor- genetic condition where I have no sweat glands. Hot weather is uncomfortable at best and potentially deadly at worst

    David H – Aunt Ramona.was recently diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma primary lung cancer.

    Victor- chronic back pain

    Captain Kevin – really struggling with pain, fatigue, and vertigo. fibromyalgia, depression, school load and difficult students

    Scooter Jones- son is not doing well

    Lurkie Loo – dear friend with inoperable Stage 4 glioblastoma (brain cancer). She is 44.

    surfer51 (david) “stage four” prostate cancer

    John 20:29 – cousin Jerry has prostate cancer

    Erunner- mom has blocked arteries

    Lennea- sister salvation and cancer

    Erunner- wife RA

    Paige- 4 boys to be pleasing to God

    Captain kevin – new direction for he and his wife, work load, health

    Dan -new direction for he and wife, looking for a new church

  2. John 20:29 says:

    I am wondering why, when God has servants like Michael and the Captain (and others here with serious physical challenges), this rather innocuous old lady is hauling hay and shoveling snow with only sore muscles etc. I never was strong, but i’ve always had endurance… But inanimate objects are not as wearing and wearying as people, especially the young, with problems are they? God, i am again joining with the pray-ers here for Your tired servants… Thank You for mercies, but praying for great strength and healing, too

  3. Michael says:

    O God our King, by the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ on the first day of the week, you conquered sin, put death to flight, and gave us the hope of everlasting life: Redeem all our days by this victory; forgive our sins, banish our fears, make us bold to praise you and to do your will; and steel us to wait for the consummation of your kingdom on the last great Day; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  4. John 20:29 says:

  8. John 20:29 says:

    amen, dusty and thank you

    listened to this sung this morning and thinking of so many here, it brought tears to my eyes

    “The Refiner’s Fire”
    “There burns a fire with sacred heat
    White hot with holy flame
    And all who dare pass through its blaze
    Will not emerge the same
    Some as bronze, and some as silver
    Some as gold, then with great skill
    All are hammered by their sufferings
    On the anvil of His will

    The Refiner’s fire
    Has now become my souls desire
    Purged and cleansed and purified
    That the Lord be glorified
    He is consuming my soul
    Refining me, making me whole
    No matter what I may lose
    I choose the Refiner’s fire

    I’m learning now to trust His touch
    To crave the fire’s embrace
    For though my past with sin was etched
    His mercies did erase
    Each time His purging cleanses deeper
    I’m not sure that I’ll survive
    Yet the strength in growing weaker
    Keeps my hungry soul alive”

    Thank you Dusty.

    We beseech thee, Master, to be our helper and protector.

    Save the afflicted among us;

    have mercy on the lowly;

    raise up the fallen;

    appear to the needy;

    heal the ungodly;

    restore the wanderers of thy people;

    feed the hungry;

    ransom our prisoners;

    raise up the sick;

    comfort the faint-hearted.

    We’re still dealing with, or trying to figure out how to deal with, the nutjob at my church. He sent a church wide email out. It’s hard to judge how much effect it’s had. Some people didn’t notice it or it went in their spam folder, some people got pissed off at him and view him as someone who should be stopped, and at least some people are very worried by what he wrote.

  16. John 20:29 says:

    J2… Your story has me thinking – how old is this person? Does he have credentials? An accountant? and why hasnt your church board confronted him, asked for him to meet with them and state his case? If theres a problem in the funds management, id bet can fix it, and if there isnt a problem, the fella should be rebuked. Either way, i think it should be announced to the whole church that the problem was addressed face to face with this guy and the minutes of the meeting made public… And you can quote me ?

    But still praying here – God knows, i dont, eh.

  17. j2theperson says:

    We are (slowly and hopefully now less slowly) dealing with him. He has no financial or legal credentials. He is in his mid sixties and claims to be a semi-retired professional engineer with business experience. He seems like a nut job, and, at this point, my sense is that most of the church recognizes him as a divisive person. The weird thing is, he’s gone to our church for at least 10 years and as been asked at least once possibly twice to serve on the vestry but turned it down. I think he wants to look like the hero, so he’s created a problem that he can then swoop in an fix, but he can’t look like a hero if he’s a part of the vestry because the vestry as a whole would be the group that gets commended. I’m wondering if he has some kind of mental health problems or possibly has suffered a mini stroke or is experiencing the beginning stages of dementia. I would like him to get help; he clearly seems to need it, but his behavior also can’t be tolerated.

  18. John 20:29 says:

    J2, your assessment of the man sounds very insightful – i pray you are heard there… a stroke or dementia is a sad, but real possibility d
    from what you describe, i think

  19. j2theperson says:

    I think most people see through him. But he’s stressful to deal with.

  20. The New Victor says:

    My mother is in a skilled nursing facility now. I and the kids went to see her. She cried when she saw me. I cleaned out what I could of her old apartment. Brought her two bibles. She is 130 miles away, but it seems a good place. She’s in and out mentally. She was happy to see my kids she hasn’t seen in two years. Dealing with Medi-Cal and the like will be a challenge. I have no access to her bank account, but she has over $11k in there. Seperate a Hoarder from their money and suddenly they have money… it will go to her care. $1500/mo vs a $8700/mo expense. Her 5 acres is up for auction. It’s gone. It was in her dead husband’s name. If it were in her name she would have been forced to liquidate it anyway.

    She seemed ok, them started talking about how her roommates son threatened to kill the woman. I have no idea what is true. In just listened. She kept confusing my kids with puppies. We’ll go back to visit in March. She was in isolation due to a communicable infection. I brought the kids to the door but she couldn’t touch them.

    I and D5 may have caught the flu from there (not from my mom, but the trip?). I was laid out with chills Saturday and spent the day in bed, first time like that in 7 years. D got sick the next day, 3rd day of fever today. I took off work to take care of her yesterday, which gave me a break since I was only at 80%. They took samples for flu and strep this morning. She should pull through. S8 has the immune system of an ox. They gave her Tamiflu just in case.

  21. John 20:29 says:

    New Victor, will be praying… having gone thru 5 years of caring for a difficult mother, i know how draining it is… you can tell yourself that everything possible is being done and logically you know that it is, but when a parent is vulnerable and unhappy it wears you down… My mothers younger sister gave me the advice that i hung onto: “You cant make her content or happy, shes been discontented and unhappy all her life.”
    Your mother is blessed to have you there now in her final days or years… and… God sees. ?
