  1. Wow…wow…wow!!! Copying and printing this prayer. Not only beautiful, but so, so true, honest and heartfelt. We are unequal to the task, but that’s how it’s supposed to be.

Lord, bless all my PhxP friends today with a sense of your manifest presence, whether in joy or in sorrow. Thank you for this place where we can weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. Open up the heavens, Lord, and pour out Your Glory! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

My husband is not doing well. He’s 6’1″ and has dropped below 150 lbs. His colonoscopy is scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully, we’ll get a diagnosis and get him on some kind of treatment right away. It’s all very stressful.

  3. j2theperson says:

Also, I’m sure we’re all still praying for Nonnie’s grandson.

  4. jlo says:

j2, keeping you guys in prayer

  5. Oh my! That’s really thin! Lord, please lead the doctors to the correct diagnosis and treatment plan quickly, or provide a miraculous healing. Either way, we’ll praise You!

  6. Yes! Please Lord, heal this child!

Praying, J2. I’ll update a prayer list when I get home

  8. Nonnie says:

    J2 praying for you hubby.
Bennet’s surgery is on Tue. His mama said he had a good day yesterday and held his daddy’s finger and responded well to some “activities” that stressed him the day before. My son can barely speak on the phone without tears and my mama’s heart is breaking for him, but I thank God that our family is united in His love and trusting in His gracious and loving care of our baby boy. Bennet’s mama asks for prayer for the older siblings (5 and 3) who are struggling in their own ways, missing their parents and knowing their baby brother is not well. They are staying with their other grandparents who are wonderful and loving people….but everyone is hurting and anxious…..and yet there is also a peace that passes understanding. Can’t explain it.
So thankful for you all here.

    Prayer Requests

Nonnie: Her grandson Bennet, born Aug 24th, has a rare disease called hyperplastic left heart syndrome. Basically the left side of his heart is not functioning and never will. He is going in to surgery on 8/28. Be praying for Bennet, his parents Joseph and Christie and his older siblings (5 and 3) who are having a tough time as well.

J2theperson: Her husband is 6’1″and has dropped to below 150 lbs. He is having a colonoscopy on 8/27. Pray for wisdom, for a diagnosis and treatment. Pray as well for Jessica and her husband with the stress of what is happening with him while still adjusting to baby Calice.

Captain Kevin: Continue to pray for him as he deals with ongoing pain and insomnia. Pray for wisdom of doctors and the help of medication.

London: Pray for a job for her, and also for her efforts to provide school supplies for kids that cannot get them any other way.

Michael: Pray for his health and strength and wisdom in all the areas that he carries.

Reading through and praying with Brueggemann this morning…and thinking of those in New Orleans who are waiting and watching as Isaac makes its approach.

Babies who need miracles. Little Bennet, and Baby Andrew back here in our hometown. He was moved out of ICU last week, only to return a couple days later because his lung collapsed again….still his parents speak with hope and joy and expectation to take him home.

Thinking of a dear friend here who is headed to the airport to pick up her husband returning from Afghanistan after a year of service…returning on his son’s 2nd birthday. Returning to the same airport at the same time as all the young men who played on the Goodlettsville Little League team.

Thinking of many who are struggling with health. Captain Kevin and Michael and Jessica’s husband, friends here in our sphere. My sister-in-law who was in a horseback accident and broke her pelvis in two places…now dealing with a blood clot in the lung.

    Many who are struggling financially.

And yet, many who are rejoicing as well. Jessica with Calice, London as she sees young ones with the supplies they need for school. Paige in celebration of what is happening in her church, and Nancy always rejoicing in her garden and her family. Simple and good pleasures.

Praying this morning for God’s grace to meet us. For the words of the prayer above to resonate with us and give directions to our own prayers. Praying for God to be gracious with us today…to stir our hearts and our minds, to enliven our thoughts and our prayers…to give hope to hearts that have been aching.

Praying this morning that worship will be quick to come to us this morning. Praying that our minds will be caught up in the thoughts of God, that His Word will come quickly to mind, that we will know that we are His and that he is active and working and in our midst. To know that our reality is held in His care and His design.

Praying that God will meet us as wee seek Him in our bedrooms, at our kitchen tables, when we are walking, in the hospital rooms, in our work places. Praying that He will open our eyes to see those we encounter through His vision and with His care and that he will give us the energy and the strength to care well and to love well. To seek His glory in how we encounter our day….

We plan on traveling to Spokane later this week to spend some time with family and friends, and maybe some time at the lake. We need to keep our composure around some of the family members. We can tell that the enemy wants to get our eyes off the Lord during this time. Got a feeling that there may be some surprises during this trip, some of them not good.

  12. Michael says:

Thank you, Sarah…amen to all the above.

  13. Em says:

praying for God the Holy Spirit to renew our minds in Christ and build strength in us; Colossians 3:12-16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God”
Lord, thank You so much for what is given to us here

  14. Sarah says:

Closing out what has been a very mixed day here.

    Praying for rest.

I got to see pictures of my friend with her husband home from Afghanistan….what sweet rest they will have in their home tonight (he’s been gone a year).

Praying for a quiet to settle in Baby Bennet’s room this evening as they prepare for the surgery tomorrow. A quiet that is sensed by that wee one…that he is cared for and held in the constant gaze not only of his parents and grandparents, but of the One Who created him. Praying for God to knit him together and make him whole, using the tools of the doctors and their wisdom…and miraculously healing this little one. Praying for rest for his parents and siblings tonight, and for the drs as well…that they may be ready for tomorrow.

Praying for the many who have passed this way over the years. So many names and stories. Thinking of Jlo and MK, of Nancy and of Em and of Dusty and Nomans, of Sister Christian and Concerned, of London and so many others….Tony and BrianD and Buster and Erunner and Mld and Captain Kevin and Reuben and Michael and Papias and Filbertz….lifting each one before the Father as their names and stories come to mind. For peace in their homes tonight, for rest that brings refreshment, strength and hope.

Praying for our care for one another as the days lead up to the election….that we have immense grace with one another and patience and an ability to respect differences. Praying for God’s hand on our country, first and foremost through us His children as He calls us to repentance and to care and to faithfulness….praying that we see Him move in our midst in ways that we cannot help but shout about.

My mind is wandering tonight….it’s nice to have a place to come and chase wandering thoughts, and prayers, ‘outloud’.

    Night all…

  15. Michael says:

I got instant bronchitis out of nowhere last night…and start my work week today. 🙁
    Prayers appreciated…

  17. Em says:

so many fragile babies and shredded parents now … last night was one of those nights where i was grateful for a mind stuffed full of good old hymns – when one can’t summon supplications (can’t “reason” with God) singing Truth helps – even tho i know our Lord is saying, I can’t wait to get her up here and give her a decent voice

“Jesus, I am resting, resting in the joy of that Thou art – finding out the goodness of Thy loving heart …..” “My Jesus as Thou wilt, oh may Thy will be mine; into Thine arms of love i would my all resign …” “The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of heaven breaks …” “What a friend we have in Jesus …” sometimes just snatches come to mind: “be faithful, weary Pilgrim, you shall My glory see …”

God keep all close and comforted

  18. sarahkwolfe says:

Amen, Em….I pray for those things stored up in us that remind of God’s faithfulness to be stirred in these days.

Praying for Michael’s bronchitis and continuing in prayer for Baby Bennet as he recovers from surgery.

Have to share a video with you all. This is a couple who were in my Sunday School at the little Baptist church we first attended when we moved back to TN. Incredibly sweet family. Nathan has been gone for a year in Afghanistan and returned home on his Son’s birthday. They caught the reunion on video…moments like this make me very thankful to be in a small town where the local soldier is still welcomed home with signs and cheers…

Prayer request from London Wednesday morning:

Urgent Prayer Request from my friend in CA.
Just got a text from him saying his sister,” Princy”
    Is missing.
The family is of course freaking out and the police are looking every where for her.
He said the campus police, so I’m not sure what happened.
Please pray for her safety and the family to be calm enough to think straight to help in the search.

  21. Sarah says:

Nonnie also posted on facebook that Baby Bennet is out of surgery and the parents were waiting to see him. That was several hours ago and they said the next 5 or so hours would be critical. Hoping that we will hear a good report today of how he is recovering from surgery.

Also…Pastor Tim’s house was broken into yesterday. Thankfully his wife and daughter were not home, but please keep their family in prayer…

  24. Em says:

reading the thread and praying with

God keep all safe and comforted this night

  25. jlo says:

    j2, how is your husband?

  26. j2theperson says:

He’s still not doing well. He doesn’t have Crohns, though, which I guess is a good thing. He also didn’t have any polyps so it’s a relief to have the fear of cancer removed. But, he does have a pretty severe case of colitis. The doctor did some biopsies and he didn’t want to prescribe anything until he got the results back from those. So, we’ll see.

  27. jlo says:

good news, but no answers, will continue to pray.
