This year, as Kate Bowler has noted, is a wilderness in a wilderness.
We have no choice but to renounce the theology of glory for the theology of the cross…

It may be that the most important theological task before us is to disentangle the two…

    Duane,

Thank you; a season to give up everything. ‘Yes, let us go to Jesus ‘outside the camp.’

There is no crown without the cross,
There’s no victory without the loss,
There is no hand to lead us through
Before the blows for me, for you
There is no peace, no joy, no hope
Without the march, the bloody slope

I’ve been a believer since my teen years, and this is the first time I’ve ever celebrated Lent. I’ve had a right good time learning about it, the history behind it and so forth. I, like Michael, am following Kate Bowler’s daily Lenten reflections. Giving up power. Just like Jesus did. I’ve been meditating on Him in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Lord of the universe, so emotionally troubled and burdened, forsaken by His friends, sorely attacked by Satan, begging God that He might take away the coming abuse and anguish, knowing right well that was His whole mission. It’s an amazing view into a God that was human. May He bless you all as you reflect on Him.
