Things I Think…

1. Holy Week brought out lots of people deconstructing on social media. While I share many of their concerns and reject a lot of what they reject…I completely affirm the person and work of Jesus Christ. It disturbed me that while people reckoned with all the issues around institutional Christianity, there was little talk of Jesus himself. The main question humans still have to answer is “who do you say I am”?…

2. Too many say if Jesus was real, then He would do something about all the evil done in His name…which isn’t too far away from the arguments of the Pharisees…and Judas…

3. There is nothing happening in the world or in your life that Jesus didn’t tell us could happen…the way of Jesus always involves suffering and sacrifice…

4. Any leader threatening to “wipe out a civilization” is an anti-Christ…

5. Should the mad king make good on his threat, our children and grandchildren will have to deal with the generations of terrorists that hate America he spawned…

6. I used to dislike red letter bibles because “all scripture was God breathed”…now I know better … and I love the red letters above all others…

7. One of our cats got scared last night and scratched me up pretty well. In the aftermath, I realized that a cat can do nothing to offend me…my affection for them is unconditional, even if it requires bandages. This is how I should feel about humans…suffice to say I’m not there yet, but I know what it feels like…

8. That’s all I’ve got…headed to surgery this morning. God willing, I’ll be home tomorrow…

Praying all goes well with your surgery, Michael.

    Oh…and first. 😉

    Praying for you, Michael.

First. Captain, your “First” is fake news.

4, amen to that. Millions of lives were just threatened. China and Russia vetoed the resolution to open the straight. Does anyone in the US have the slightest clue what is happening right now? What power is at play? That rationing of fuel is already happening globally? Why is this happening? Trump. We are the terrorist state right this very minute.

  4. Captain Kevin says:

Bob, my first obliterates your first. 😜

Reuben: “ We are the terrorist state right this very minute.” You got that right.

    Michael,

I do wish you a successful surgery and a speedy and complete recovery.

I’ve always enjoyed CS Lewis’ comment that Jesus was either a liar, had the mentality of a poached egg, or actually was who he said he was. No one would be able to do the things he did unless he was God’s Son. And, none of the things he did were to bring authenticity to himself-he already was who he said he was because of what he could do.

    Heal up soon, Michael!

    Reuben and Captain Kevin,

Every single person that voted for that Orange Dear Leader in the White House deserves my unending hatred and scorn. If a MAGA cultist was on fire I would not cross the street to piss on them to put it out, I don’t care if they are friends, coworkers or even family. If every single one of them were to die or better yet go to a South American country and drink a fruit flavored beverage with a special secret ingredient and remove themselves from the gene pool, I would break out the Dom Pérignon, party like it is 1999, while I danced on their graves.

  8. Michael says:

    Ra’s al Ghu,

I’m home recovering, but I need to address these comments.
I’ve been very clear about my opposition to Trump and MAGA and have paid the price for doing so.

Your words are not the way forward and they don’t belong on a website that opposes Trump and MAGA because we believe they oppose the ways of Christ.

My hope is that people begin to see clearly and act accordingly…and they will not do so in the midst of such inflammatory statements.

You said elsewhere that you were disappointed that the shooter missed Trump…if he would have succeeded, not only would the country been torn apart, what is left of traditional American ethics would have died with him.

I celebrate when people want to have discussions about the issues and ethics involved…I won’t withhold ideological redemption…I’ve been redeemed many times over…

  9. JD says:

Glad to hear that you are home and praying for your complete recovery.

  10. Reuben says:

Joel Sterling Brown is having surgery tomorrow to put in a stint. Y’all know what to do.

Trump’s threat, followed by total utter capitulation to Iran, followed by western media lying to everyone that this was some sort of major victory, followed by Israel being blindsided by the tool of their war, and Israel lashing out on Lebanon, and now there is no ceasefire, my hatred for the existence of that man has grown to a level I have never felt for anything aside from Capitalism. But…

What happens moving forward could not only start a world war, but also a civil war. The MAGA base is currently whipped into a frenzy of rage against the globe, as the FBI just admitted to expanding searches for potential “American terrorists” by 300% by including divergent views on gender, religion, and capitalism. The government is staging a purge of actual American citizens, and MAGA will be instrumental in carrying out that purge by policing American citizens themselves.

I agree with Michael. The death of Trump would equate to martyrdom, emboldening a cause of unprecedented violence, and an all out civil war would end this nation.

I had to check my heart yesterday. And again today. Because evil does not cancel evil. I absolutely know I am not looking at anything correctly right now. I need to remind myself that the hand of God gave me a job to take care of schools. That’s my job today. If I go rioting on the streets like I did when George Floyd happened, the probability that there will be nobody to take care of those schools tomorrow is exponentially higher than ever before.

“The kind of religion that says you can treat people however you want as long as you have a personal relationship with Jesus is an abomination.”

I’m right there with ya, Reuben.

    What a sobering thread…

At any rate, at this later date, I am keeping my eyes toward the heavens.
I believe that prophecy is being fulfilled “gradually, and then suddenly”, like a rolling hoola hoop. I know the Jews have promises from God the Father and Jesus, and those won’t go away. They’re not all great.

But I’m over the “prophecy watch” news aggregates, I think. It’s like watching the second-hand on a school clock. There’s a lot of railing and anger and spite, when He promised Christians it would always turn out this way.

Michael, may God keep your body and mind going on this blog for while more, or, at least as long as He wants you to.

  15. Michael says:

    Jerod,

    Thank you…
