When News Isn’t News
The headline on my Twitter feed read “Mark Driscoll Answers: Does God Require All People To Tithe?”
My first thought was “who cares what Mark Driscoll thinks?”
The answer to that question is probably the same answer as when I asked why the Assist News Service posts Gospel For Asia’s press releases as if they were real news items and completely ignores the scandals around the organization.
The answer being that both are nothing but media whores.
In my opinion, of course…they’re probably also lawyered up whores.
Now, I have no problem with someone trying to make a living.
We run ads and solicit donations ourselves.
I have a huge problem with whores dressed up like nuns (though I understand that appeals to some).
I digress.
Both of these outlets publish puff pieces about Driscoll, Abedini, GFA, etc. that are nothing more than attempts by these people to reestablish market share.
That’s not news.
It shouldn’t be labeled as news.
It would be news would be if outlets that are purportedly “Christian” actually pursued the truth and risked the wrath of advertisers and readers to find it.
What these outlets do is pit themselves against those who are seeking and speaking the truth…burying truth in favor of profit.
Are you going to believe a blogger or “The Christian Post?”
They need to clearly state what is opinion, what has been paid for…and what is legitimate “news”.
Nobody has ever paid me to run a story or to squash a story, nor would I ever accept money to do either.
Truth still matters here.
We still know the difference between a nun and a whore…
You are 100% correct on MD. Don’t know if you could stomach being on CP that long, but did you notice the video of “how God led MD to leave Mars Hill”? Spin doctor!
MD lost me when he said in the article…”Looking into passages in the Old Testament of the Bible” but then I realized there was more he said.
BTW, regarding the CP, ever read the Babylon Bee? Satire site. Headlines seem to read similarly to CP’s headlines.
I like the Bee…
Michael, can you edit my first comment and remove the last statement? I don’t feel right about it. Also delete this comment? Thanks!
What? The Bee ain’t real…Dang!
Preach it journalist Michael.
Ha! And here I thought the Babylon Bee was a guilty pleasure I had to keep to myself…. 😉
I’ve noticed how many Christian leaders – who don’t have the same black marks to their name as Driscoll et al – playing the media whore to various degrees.
Michael…not that you need any more fodder against the Christian post, but here is more garbage/vomitus posted by them..
Sad that I was from her home state
Not so much the article, but the rock-concert-esque picture that accompanies the article…It’s All About Him huh?…
Isn’t Glenn Beck a Mormom?
A new “Phoenix Preacher”?
From the “Truth is Stranger than Fiction” file:
The Christian Legal Society, CLS, is featuring Mark Driscoll as their scheduled speaker in Phoenix this month, to inspire Christian attorneys and law students. Unbelievable – but nevertheless true. Here is a link to the announcement:
