I never understood his television set. It looked like a church service, but instead of a cross, he preached beside a globe looking thing. I didn’t see any Christian symbols anywhere on the set.
Back in the early 80’s, Stanley was a major influence to this brand new believer.
I was never a fan…but it’s ridiculous that it took about five minutes to have people on social media calling him a false teacher…
I was happy to read, on CT’s web site, that he and his son Andy reconciled, sounds like awhile back.
That generation of SBC mega pastors who led the resurgence of inerrantist dogma is almost gone. Not sure who would be left that played a major role.
My daughter is devastated! He was her go to pastor…..
He was very popular for a long time…some of my own church watched him regularly…
Watched him mainly because he was always on TV. Was blessed to hear him preach.

He’s the most famous alum of my seminary. I always found him rather dry. Never understood the allure.
