David Sloane (Surfer51) With The Lord Now
Long time friend of the blog David Sloane,(who posted as Surfer51 here) passed away this afternoon after a long battle with cancer.
David was a product of the Jesus Movement and a faithful keeper of that flame to the end.
He had a great heart for God and critters…he had a wonderful menagerie at home and we often compared notes on our beloved pets.
He was a good and faithful man, and a wonderful character here with us.
Our condolences to his wife, his family, and the beloved pets he left behind.
We will miss him indeed.

Thoughts and prayers go out to David’s loved ones and friends.
I will miss David’s kindness here on the PhxP, but so very glad that his battle with cancer is over. Not only that, but as a believer, he has won that battle…now completely healed in the presence of our Savior.
I always loved his comments here. He will be missed here but glad he’s now totally healed.

Last Sunday during rehearsal for our worship set, we were working on the song “Healer” and something struck me—like a spiritual lightening bolt– that he was going home soon.
By His stripes we have been healed.

I appreciated so many of David’s comments here. In my local congregation we have a tradition of honoring some of those who are experienced in the faith as “sages”, as folks worth listening to. I feel David fits that title too. I especially appreciated his candor about the early days of Calvary Chapel. Praying for his family and friends and they mourn their loss even as they celebrate his release from pain and into the presence of his Lord.

I miss his presence here. May all who love him be comforted. If PP ever has a Hall of Fame, he belongs there. One of the best of the best old timers to ever grace these pages! ❤️
