Dwight Douville and CC Appleton Have Issues…Again…
Back in the early years of the Phoenix Preacher, Dwight Douville of CC Appleton was one of the poster boys for unaccountable and abusive men in the Calvary Chapel movement.
There were awful allegations about how Douville treated his (then) wife and about how his board wanted to discipline him but was overruled by Chuck Smith and Costa Mesa.
Maybe some discipline then would have spared them the problems they have now.
According to testimonies and documents sent to me, the entire board and the assistant pastor of Calvary Appleton have resigned in protest over Douville’s refusal to be accountable.
The most significant issue is the allegation that Douville has been addicted to Xanax for over two decades… as well as his refusal to meet with the board or parishioners, and they allege his church salary has been garnished by two banks.
Allegedly, he also not repaid the church for loans made directly to him from tithes and offerings.
Further, a letter written by a former board member alleges the verbal mistreatment of both staff and parishioners.
When confronted by that board member, Douville is quoted as saying “God put me in the pulpit and only God can take me out”.
Douville might want to consider all of this the voice of God…but I doubt he has ears to hear.
The sad part of all of this mess is that we proved over two decades ago that Douville was biblically unfit for ministry.
He played the standard Calvary Chapel cards to stay in power…the Moses model of “ministry”, combined with uber conservative politics and endless prophecy updates.
He’s left quite a trail…but that trail may have finally come to an end.
I remember this from years ago. The wheels of justice grind slowly.
And the beat goes on.
Every dog has its day. Unfortunately too often it takes a long while.
It’s so sad when a church can’t get rid of these guys. The adulterous pastor in my church from 40 years ago was able to get another pastoral position after he left our town. Then, he made the mistake of going after the young adult daughter of an elder (in the new church), and the boom was lowered. He ended up in a backwater rural church that probably would have taken anyone, with his sermons going over the airways. He left a path of destruction in several churches in different states.

The CC pool is polluted with Senior Pastor unrepentant sin and them living in un-forgiving sin… Jesus stands at the door and knocks… Pastor’s of CC open the door and let Jesus in. Yes that includes you the man in the mirror… and praying for the elders and pastors who had the courage to say enough in Appleton… pray that courage spreads… into MLT and more places.

Michael: Correct me if I am wrong, but if a CC church closes, the Dove, the IP, and the rights to use stay with the senior pastor. So any of these disgraced pastors could simply go to another town and open up another CC since they keep the Dove?

Hmmm… Dwight is on his third wife (1st marriage annulled and second wife divorced him due to the abuse), he is an admitted drug user, his finances are in a shambles with his church salary being garnished twice by banks he owed money to. Gotta tell you, this guy is a mess. And shady as the day is long. His doctor stopped prescribing his drug dose and Dwight had to get creative with where he got his ‘medicine’. That church is a nightmare.

Good Lord. I’m opposed to any partisan politics in the church. I’m opposed to prophecy updates as theological nonsense. Neither has anything to do with the issues at hand…except that they divert the simple from the issues at hand.
Prophecy updates are not theological nonsense. Do you know how many people are unaware of the times we are living in?! And you took the Lord’s name in vain. I don’t agree with some of his issues and what he’s doing. But it’s a low blow to throw out info in regards to medications he’s on and his personal life. And I hate to tell you this, but there are many “uber conservative” preachers speaking at the pulpits in the calvary chapel churches on Sunday. Thou shalt not kill…that means inborn babies too. That’s very conservative and very biblical.

I’m pretty unconcerned about your issues. I am concerned that a man who is biblically disqualified is in a pulpit.. and he’s been disqualified for a very long time. I know what is in most CC pulpits and that’s why I don’t go near Calvary Chapels.
And there you have it, you don’t like CC churches. Why didn’t you say that in the first place.

Has it dawned on you that 50 years of “prophecy updates ” have all been wrong?
First off, I DO NOT have comprehension issues. I am also not a member, nor do I attend CC of Appleton. Is he biblically qualified to lead the church? According to your ALLEGATIONS…no. I hate to tell you this, but many pastors are not, including Catholic priests. We are ALL in a fallen state, including every board member, elder, trustee and church member. Xanax is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders, which I hope you never have to suffer. It is debilitating and none of your or anyone else’s business. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to stand up in front of a congregation every week, sometimes twice a week, and give/teach a positive message. Especially in the times that we currently live. 50 years of incorrect prophecy…are you even serious? Everything written in Revelation is falling into place. If you cannot see that, I pray your eyes are opened. Because it is now happening at a rapid pace. It is apparent you have a beef with Calvary Chapel, and that is why it feels like a hit piece to me. Are pastors held to a higher standard…yes!! But again, we are all in a fallen state. If he gets the help he needs to change his condition, he deserves the same forgiveness God extended to us as His Son hung on that Cross.
From the pulpit Dwight told his congregation that he did not like the withdrawal dose that he was medically put under and that he would do it himself (spoken like a true junkie). And since his doctor would ONLY prescribe the withdrawal dose, where is he getting the drugs? Does the idea of three wives bother you at all? He cannot pay his bills and he lives in a 6,200 sq ft house with a property tax bill of $700 a month. This guy is a thieving bum, asking for loans from the church and not paying them back. Icky, icky man.
The cult is strong with some. Even those who claim not to be a member (technically, Calvary Chapel has no members as they have no official membership process and what they call “members” really are not), but yet seemingly still live near by the church and like a good bit about it, including all of its emphasis on so-called “prophecy”.
If you’re referring to me Kevin H I DO NOT live near or attend this church. But I do like to study so-called Bible “prophecy”. It is almost a third of the Bible.

‘Third of the Bible being prophecy” is a silly statement…how much of that prophecy has already been fulfilled?
You may also want to read what a genre of writing called “apocalyptic” really means and how to read it.

Dwight’s first wife was rescued by her father after Dwight hit her. Dwight’s second wife did not divorce him. She filed for legal separation and Dwight countered for the divorce. So wife number 3 knows the Dwight of wife 1and 2 and has chosen to stay.
Walk away people, walk away. Appleton CC is hemorrhaging.

This morning Dwight had two adoring, abet lackey, CC pastors from MN come for moral support, as he returned to the pulpit. Then he had some other pronouncing and announcing ‘expert’ talk for 20 minutes about how Dwight’s drug addiction was because of his doctor and that his withdrawal from benzodiazepines (now in its second year) was right on course. She sounded foolish, with zero expertise on medically supervised withdrawal and really getting/staying clean. Even in difficult cases, it would not take that long, except Dwight (the church’s favorite addict) wants to do it differently. LOL. What a complete monkey show. That is a 500+ seat sanctuary and there were maybe 60 people there. It made me chuckle. Wait until the IRS comes knocking, that will be some reaping of the wickedness Dwight has sown for so many years. Jane (the second wife) you have my deepest regrets that you had to endure so much with that group. I wish you the very best Jane, you deserve it.
If Tracy was still commenting, I would offer a fruit-flavored beverage with a special added ingredient, especially if it came from the Calvary Chapel Dear Leaders.
As for his quote “God put me in the pulpit and only God can take me out”, one can always hope a repeat of the Ananias and Sapphira zot will occur at CC Appleton. I would watch that on pay per view.

the names have changed, the locations have shifted, the content remains the same. I’ve been with PP for approaching 24 years and it’s amazing how the broken record keeps skipping in the same spots.
Dwight, judgment is coming. And justice will devour you when it arrives. Today you spoke in a bragging sense and referenced the book of Mark. You spoke of the dangers of wealth and ignored that just a few verses above it were the –clear– warnings about divorce. You divorced women Dwight. Because they could no longer tolerate your physical, sexual and emotional abuse, they left (yes, they is plural). And you married again a THIRD time. That justice of God will come to you because of your adultery cases. The verses you did preach about this morning spoke of wealth. But you currently live in a house that is over 6,000 sq feet and your property taxes alone are $700 a month. You have borrowed money from the church and from banks that you have not repaid. Judgment will come for that as well. You continue to use the benzodiazepines that you became addicted to decades ago. And the justice will come a third time for you unwillingness to be honest about that. YOU are a biblical mess, Dwight. Judgment is coming Dwight, designed for your sin and your pompous refusal to see right from wrong. It is coming Dwight and you will have worked hard for it and you cannot stop it. Repent and resign, while you still have a chance.

I’m assuming you’re reacting to my comments about prophecy conferences…it’s hard to tell as you toss out bible verses like I toss out junk.
So these verses tell us that Jesus is coming back.
These verses do not support dispensationalism, a pre trip rapture, the sate of national Israel or the timing of said coming…all of which are the topics at prophecy conferences.
“Keeping oil in ones lamp” simply means to live in the reality of His coming…you will get little real help with that at a prophecy conference…

A wee bit late to the party here. I just read this today Friday, June 13th….If that’s the best bad luck the devil throws at me today, I’m good!
Never the less; I must comment.
I’m 12 years new here to Appleton Wisconsin; a transplant from the peoples communist Minnesota. Nice here with a garden variety of both catholic and evangelical Protestant churches. I have never personally met Dwight Douville. I have been to visit his church events, and know, many of his followers, most of whom have left. It’s a terribly sad situation and legacy that he, Dwight, has etched on this organization and his soul. From the very, very beginning when I arrived here in Appleton, I heard things, read things, talk to people, who testify of exactly the same things that I read in this post. These last 12 – 13 years I have began to question with suspicion, these prophecy conferences, and the endless babbling of the teaching of a “pre-trib rapture” ad nauseam. Whilst adding $$ to the obligatory collection plate that makes its way through the pews like indulgences in the mid 15th century. Sooner or later, if one has a few spiritual brain cells to rub together, you might have an awakening that these churches, like Calvary Chapel, or other hyper-dispensational media icons, like Olive-Tree Ministries, Jack Hibbs, David Jeremiah, have been peddling bad theology and keeping many of us as participants in their enterprise. An enterprise that bears very little fruit. And at the end of it all, we are commanded and instructed to weigh and judge everything by the quality and substance of its fruit.
