If I suck at this one I think I will resign.
Probably not.
This was an easier lot.
I remember a bible quiz where we had to name as many of the 12 apostles as we could. I got 13.
One of those I read this morning, and probably couldn’t have named the book if I hadn’t been there lately.
We’ll make the next one more challenging…
1, 2, maybe 3? I’m very bad at remembering chapter and verse numbers. I do, however, remember phrases well enough to look them up. My 10th grade English teacher recommended I read The Chosen by Chaim Potok. It blew me away how orthodox kids were expected to memorize not only the scriptures, but also the rabbinical commentaries, not to mention expected to make reasoned arguments. If I had to go back in time, it would be to listen to 12 year old Jesus discussing The Law in the temple.
At first I thought Michael dropped the ball on the answers, then I remembered that I am MST and he is PST. Five more minutes………..

Sorry for the above being posted late… As Robert Plant would say, “Communication Breakdown” ?…
Heh. I am amused by your grading system. Pretty accurate, considering how I did this. From memory. I have not been reading the bible on a regular basis for a good while.
And I got 8.5. Why a half point? For #3, I wrote, “Not sure, but Pauline epistle, tho.” (Philippians) I awarded myself a half point because my statement was correct, but not so correct as to be the exact epistle.
Also, I called it Song of Songs, not Song of Solomon. But yeah, *that* one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Missed #2 (I said Hebrews, not Romans) didn’t even take a stab at #8 (Malachai) and wrote down “dunno” for number 12.
Nailed the apostolic mentions, tho. That was a slam dunk. John is not a synoptic gospel, Luke wrote Luke and Acts. bada bing, bada boom.
Thank you for this opportunity to test my memory.

Thanks… and well done! Yes, it’s supposed to be fun!
My apologies…I totally dropped the ball.
Michael
“That what friends are for…” ?
Thank you, my friend…I got hooked up with Kate Bowler and forgot about everything… 🙂
Got lucky with the Philippians verse because I’d read it just before.
Forgot that the apostles were listed in Acts, but guessed John, although I didn’t think all four gospels listed them.
Got lucky with Malachi.
9. Guessed Luke rather than Matthew. It’s the equivalent passage.
10/12
I am from a tradition that valued knowing the scriptures. (And putting them into practice too, but the former is easier).
Eric
You’re on the way!
I need to take notes when I go to church 🙁
