These articles bring up all kinds of thoughts about supervision on the mission field when substantial funds are involved. Usually is wavers between two extremes-we don’t see why we need to supervise as we totally trust you from the sending organization and we don’t want you to supervise us from the receiving organization. It’s a perfect recipe for disaster, as is this case. The mission I served with in Colombia was more middle-of-the-road: we worked alongside nationals on projects, gradually decreasing both funds and mission staff. until the national church was wholly responsible. An example was the mission clinic. American consultants helped with any changes needed to make it profitable and trained the staff to the operating country’s standards. It’s still going strong independently after 40 years. There was some resentment from the national church about the requirements to turn over the clinic, but it was carefully explained that many donors from the U.S. and Canada had sent substantial funds for its operation, and they wanted to see it be independently successful, too. It’s a delicate beam on which to balance.i have a natural suspicion towards those who want money, but no supervision, in any Christian endeavor. My next question usually is-what are you trying to hide?

I always enjoyed listening to Laurie via the radio on my way to or from work. (I still listen to Raul Ries from time-to-time).
It’s treacherous ground when one sets out to lead God’s kids.
Rabbit trailing here, but I now worry about what Charlie Kirk’s organization is going to turn into. His wife is now leading it. I have some serious concerns in my spirit about her….I hope I am wrong.
