  2. Michael says:

    Yes…

  3. Paige says:

    Amen.

Do you prefer the Apostles Creed over the Nicene? I have the Nicene printed and glued in most of my Bibles…and it is the one I usually recite/pray

  4. Michael says:

That’s like asking which cat I like best…along with the Athanasian creed as well.
Together they are the foundational statements of our faith…

  5. Paige says:

    Thanks.

Good word of encouragement from Kate.

During this isolation, it has become easy for me to lose track of what day it is. I think it is the case with many of us, that we feel the changing rhythms as we go through our weekly routine; each day of the week “feels” a little different from each other. Most days feel the same to me.

Yet, today, it feels like a Saturday and I sense the pressing need for me to prepare to lead a Sunday worship service that will not happen. There is definitely a void, which has caused me wonder how the earliest followers of Jesus must have felt like on that Saturday. The women who had to wait out the required inactivity of the Sabbath so they could go to the tomb and perform their ministry to the body of Jesus. The apostles, staying inside for fear of being discovered. It wasn’t a Saturday that anticipated a resurrection, rather I suspect a strong presence of uncertainty and loss of hope.

I think I’ll get up tomorrow and watch the sunrise; acknowledging and celebrating the resurrection.

  7. Captain Kevin says:

    Amen!

Michael, Paige…the Apostle’s creed or the Nicene creed…like what’s your favorite Beatles song? 🙂

  9. Michael says:

    Mike,

For some…although I’d have to sub Jerry Lee for the Beatles… 🙂

  10. Em says:

“I think I’ll get up tomorrow and watch the sunrise; acknowledging and celebrating the resurrection.”
    me too
good thoughts on Jesus’ followers on Saturday before the Resurrection – a low point for them all, no doubt

I can still see the light at the end of the tunnel shine
Through the dark times even when I lose my mind
But it feels like no one in the world is listening
And I can’t ever seem to make the right decisions
I walk around in the same haze
I’m still caught in my same ways
I’m losing time in these strange days
But somehow I always know the right things to say
I don’t know what time it is
Or who’s the one to blame for this
    Do I believe what I can’t see?
And how do you know which way the wind blows?
€~Cause I can feel it all around
    I’m lost between the sound
And just when I think I know there she goes
    Goodbye for now
    Goodbye for now, so long
    Goodbye for now
(I’m not the type to say “I told you so”)
    Goodbye for now, so long
(I think the hardest part of holdin’ on is lettin’ it go)
When will we sing a new song, a new song?
We’re still smilin’ as the day goes by
And how come nobody ever knows the reasons why?
Bury you deep so far that you can’t see
If you’re like me who wears a broken heart on your sleeve
Pains is troubles that you know so well
Either time don’t, it can’t, or it just won’t tell
I’m not the type to say “I told you so”
I think the hardest part of holdin’ on is lettin’ it go
I don’t know what time it is
Or who’s the one to blame for this
    Do I believe what I can’t see?
And how do you know which way the wind blows?
€~Cause I can feel it all around
    I’m lost between the sound
And just when I think I know there she goes
    Goodbye for now
    Goodbye for now, so long
    Goodbye for now
(I’m not the type to say, “I told you so”)
    Goodbye for now, so long
(I think the hardest part of holdin’ on is lettin’ it go)
When will we sing a new song, a new song?
When will we sing a new song, a new song?
And you can sing until there’s no song left
And I can scream until the world goes deaf
For every other word left unsaid
You shoulda took the time to read the sign and see what it meant
In some ways everybody feels alone
So if the burden is mine then I can carry my own
If joy really comes in the morning time
Then I’ma sit back and wait until the next sunrise
    Goodbye for now
(I’m not the type to say, “I told you so”)
    Goodbye for now, so long
(I think the hardest part of holdin’ on is lettin’ it go)
When will we sing a new song, a new song?
When will we sing a new song, a new song?

    sorry Michael 😉

  12. Duane Arnold says:

On the Creeds (as a teaching moment) the Nicene is the only one used by both East and West (apart from the Filioque) and the only one approved by an ecumenical council – in fact, two councils. The Apostles Creed, of course, is the oldest as devolving from a baptismal affirmation of faith. It is only occasionally used in the East.
