Stamping Merry Christmas at the beginning and end of that tirade is disgusting.

  2. Stephen says:

    Great (and true) thoughts.

  3. Kevin H says:

    Thanks, Stephen.

And yes, CK, disgusting indeed. But far better that we jump on and condemn those who say “Happy Holidays” rather than “Merry Christmas”!

  4. Captain Kevin says:

Of course. After all, it’s not actually a holiday. Sheesh!

I saw that tweet. I thought it was par for the course as something Trump would write. It disgusted me, but I expect that it would be very encouraging and well received by Trump’s followers.

Trump has essentially created a new Christian denomination. The distinctive of his denomination is that you must (1) be angry, (2) hate those who disagree with you, and (3) believe in whatever your founder says is truth. The teachings of Jesus are optional.

Perhaps the new slogan should be “Keep Christ in Christian.”

  7. Shawn says:

If I had screen printing equipment I would steal, oh man I guess I missed the point (lol) filistine’s slogan and enter into another failed business based on principle alone. This is one time that I think that less than 142 characters nails it in the head. Keep “Christ in Christian.” Pure genius.

fil is a genius…we need him to write more genius stuff for us…

  9. Captain Kevin says:

    fil, Shawn and Michael, Amen!

Well, in our church someone wants to keep the word Christmas out of the church!

A fairly new person from our church isn’t happy that we use the word Christmas and today sent me this article to explain why the word Christmas is so dangerous: https://gracegems.org/29/true_meaning_of_christmass.htm

I’m used to this kind of stuff at Halloween (which doesn’t cause many any heartburn), but never imagined saying the word Christmas would become a point of contention.

People like this give me the heartburn!

  11. Pineapple Head says:

Edit: It should read “which doesn’t cause me any heartburn”

  12. Michael says:

    PH,

I just change the Zoom password for folks like that… ūüôā

  13. Janet Linn, BrideofChrist says:

“Keep Christ in Christians”! I will definitely be borrowing that phrase for my own use. Thank you, filistine!

  14. Pineapple Head says:

    Michael,

I wish I was easier going about things like this, but after 40 years of church ministry, I’ve seen so much nit-picking and bizarre conspiracy theories that my brain feels numb. We really are sheep who need a shepherd!

  15. Michael says:

    PH,

I give people like that one shot at regaining sanity…then if it doesn’t return I advise them that they would be most unhappy under my pastorate…I have no time for such nonsense…or having it spread to others.

Hard to miss the irony that the “Christmas is dangerous” author calls
    his/her website “Gracegems.” Sheesh.
