Lessons From My Vikings
My Minnesota Vikings have had a tough time as of late.
It started in training camp when the young quarterback suffered a devastating leg injury.
The team tried to fix that by paying a steep price for another quarterback.
As soon as that was fixed, the Hall of Fame running back, Adrian Peterson, went down with an injury.
Then the left tackle went down.
Then the right tackle went down.
Despite all that they started the season by winning five games in a row…it looked like they had fixed the problems.
Now they’ve lost four in a row…and people are looking to Coach Zimmer to fix things again.
They acquired a new tackle to help him.
He went down yesterday.
Some things are not fixable…not right now, at least.
Some of us are going through seasons of life that look like this season for my beloved Vikings .
As soon as one thing gets fixed, something else breaks, and enough stuff is broken now to make the future look pretty dismal.
It’s harder to go though times like this when you’re a Christian.
He’s the Coach and He can fix anything…but sometimes it looks like He left to coach another team.
He hasn’t…he’s still on your side.
Here’s some reminders for all of us in a losing season.
It’s just one season…there will be another.
You made the team…and the Coach is the one who chose you.
He never gives up on a season, so neither should you.
The game goes on whether you are playing well or not…don’t give up.
If you’re on injured reserve and can’t play for a while, you’re still part of the team…take time to heal.
It’s helpful to find some cheerleaders.
You win in the end.
Make your own application…
Encouraging. Thanks.
Keep cheering us on. And don’t worry, we won’t make you wear a cheerleader dress or wave any pom-poms. 🙂
Just keep at it, my friend.
Thanks, EricL…
I don’t have the legs for the dress… 🙂
Is this applicable to Charger fans as well since we lost:
No. 2 RB
No. 3 RB
Probable All-pro CB
No. 2 CB suffers 2nd concussion of year
MLB, play caller
No. 2 MLB
No. 1 DT
No. 1 DE unsigned and also out 6 games to start season.
No. 1 WR ((likely All-pro)
No. 2 WR
And to boot, a head coach that is dumb as hair. I take back…unfair to hair.
Lessons from my Panthers…
Panthers?
Go Hornets!
Thanks for this, Michael – well said.
Seasons change.
What I don’t like is that this also applies to the good seasons.
As a fellow Vikings fan/atic and fellow traveler, this is really nice Michael! Well done!
i’d like to be like Rob Gronkowsky (sp?) – when he was hit hard Sunday (punctured lung?) and said, it was a good clean hit… why do we always whine (i do, anyway) when i’m “hit?”
if i can’t pick myself up, sooner or later the Lord steps in and puts me on my feet again… maybe i should just lie there and pray? … dunno … i don’t much like the rougher side of life … i want to be God’s pampered darling …
i don’t think it’s out of line to say a prayer for the Gronkowsky… is it?
