I have read some of these articles on MacDonald on PP. Was he not at a Calvary Pastors Conf in Murrietta on video with Bob Coy? Based on what I have read, this individual is rancid.

He was (is?) on staff at a CC now…

There are some very perplexing things about large segments of the church.

If you are zealous in your advocacy for the life of the unborn, how can you turn a blind eye to the abuse of the born or discrimination against the born? Don’t they deserve your advocacy as well?

If you broadcast, listen or donate to a program called Walk in the Word, which “Word” stands for Bible or Word of God, how can you permit its leader and primary teacher to be a man who calls an investigative journalist a “slut?”

  4. Xenia says:

Usually, I use the word “Word” to apply to Jesus Himself, although I know there are times when it refers to Scripture. This practice helped me recover from Bibliolatry.

  5. Michael says:

    Xenia,

    I think that’s the best way…

  6. Em says:

Bibliolatry and legalism – mindless interchangeable terms? ? ?

  7. Xenia says:

Em, I don’t think they are always the same thing.

  8. Jean says:

I think Xenia’s definition is biblical and correct in many contexts. If we take Word to mean Christ, and MacDonald’s ministry is essentially, Walk in Christ, then his conduct looks even worse in my opinion. I can’t imagine Christ calling an investigative journalist a slut simply because she has reported on Him (now of course if she did, she would find no sin in Christ at all).

Good words, all… Good ponders today

    Jean and Xenia,

    I concur.

The Greek word used is Logos. Interestingly when the Septuagint translated Psalm 33:6 (“By the word [Logos] of the LORD, the heavens were made…”). Tying back to this to the creation Genesis and the Gospel of John Chapter 1, it is obvious that Christ is the Word AND was involved in creation from the beginning.

On a side note, the word logic is derived from the same Greek word. Which is why I am dismayed when so many evangelical Christians nowadays to throw logic, reason, and science completely out the window (especially in the last 20 years).

  11. The first time I heard of James MacDonald was about 12-13 years ago as he was a speaker at Greg Laurie’s church for his PREACH THE WORD conference. He was definitely a character back then. It was also the first time I met PJ Courson, after interacting here on the blog for a few years. PJ and I exchanged phone #’s in the lobby before the event, and as James spoke, we texted back and forth thoughts regarding the various speakers. As James spoke, I texted him something to the effect that MacDonald reminded me of a speaker at a political convention, throwing out red meat to the party faithful. He knew how to work the crowd up. Overall, the points of his message weren’t bad, but the idea of smash mouth preaching seemed a bit weird. I’ve always been of the mind that any competency we have must be matched by character, or in time we will sink our own ship. JM’s lack of character will continue to (thankfully) marginalize and minimize his “ministry.”

I never heard of Macdonald till he showed up on CSN Radio..latter 2000’s somewhere? Didn’t really pay much attention to his teaching because of his style didn’t draw me in.

About 2012 or so, he came on after a depressing day at work. I think it was my mood that caused me to pay attention. I realized he was a mocker and reviler. Bunch of Satanist smut from an accuser. A minister of light.
Never allowed him to play in the background on CSN again.

It confused me. Why was someone with ties to his tribe on CSN? I wondered what sorts of doctrines where percolating in the Calvary Sphere, or was it just pay-to-play programming.

When the CT child pornagraphy statement leaked out, I didn’t think it was a joke at all, dispite the down-play of Big Eva personalities.

I’m not convinced he HAD the ability to pick up the phone and get kid porn planted. But, I believe he ASSUMED he had the ability to do so.
