Thanks for the link to the Charisma news rebuke. Of course in my world it didn’t go far enough, given the incredulous and dubious editorials and viral stories/ photos they have promoted ( for example, showing a picture of cloud iridescence and tagging it as possible end times proof)

“Butterfly minds” … Packer says that is a problem we have today … thank you so much for the vimeo link … if you don’t find 15 minutes to listen to this, shame on you… shame on me because i do have a butterfly mind and am going to listen again

we hear that God is holy, He’s gracious to us, but i don’t think we hear nearly enough sermons that center on the attributes of the One who created us

    just sayin

7 ways to discipline your wife? The lazy, emotionally immature man’s guide to “winning”.

    Dude, she’s not your property.

  4. Em says:

well, the video is a book promotion in the end, but Packer (wish they’d given the dear old man the courtesy of a softer place to sit) is worth hearing nevertheless… we study and treasure the attributes of the ones we love – why don’t we do that with God? After His pure holiness, my favorite is His immutableness

  5. Nonnie says:

7 ways to discipline your wife…..complete rubbish. I’m so disgusted reading this type of trash from people who claim to follow Christ.

Any man who has to “discipline” his wife is not loving his wife.

I’m guessing that any dude who tries to pull 1 through 6 on his wife is definitely going to have to use number 7. 😀

  6. Em says:

the ways recommended for wife discipline? ahem, sounds like a bunch of plain old domestic problems to me… wife spends too much? well, a husband can spend too much, also – wife not keeping house to hubby’s standard? hubby not keeping yard to neighborhood standard – wife watches too much TV? oh, ho ho ho – ever heard of football? etc., etc., and so forth … there aren’t too many wives out there who can’t turn the tables on that silly list…
what kind of Christian approaches life with this kind of thinking? if it wasn’t meant tongue in cheek, well then there are some other anatomical problems involved and very scary… back slowly out the door and run

The new charismatics are a more politically correct hip niche …
    Nothing more…

This is the ongoing drama of the market driven church.

It is where I live and ….

It says so much about us

The entire list of ten things sounds like it was hammered out by a publicist.

  9. Julie Anne says:

Just an FYI – the article on 7 ways to discipline your wife is by Kathi – she helps me on the blog and did a great job on that article.

  10. Em says:

the whole idea of husbands disciplining their wives is one to make a person stop and say, “what’s going on here…”
gotta say though, i wish Adam had stood up to Eve way back there and when God came in the cool of the day to walk with him, he could have asked the Father what to do about his problem wife over there eating apples – “the wife you gave me…” – that makes an interesting ponder … of a sort

we have a great many things out of whack in our world today… gender roles IS one of those things… it was good when the husband made the living and the wife made it worth living, when the family home was just that… but to what extent those standards were actualized i’m not sure… not everyone went thru life in the Ark two by two, not by a long shot…
reverent common sense has to kick in somewhere… we can’t make an absolute out of a fallen world… i ramble…

if there was any danger that anyone would take the discipline rules as a mandate – and evidently there is that – then thank God for Julie Anne and her friend

  11. The Dude says:

    Packer interview is just stellar.

  12. Charlie says:

Nice hit piece, I mean article on the old vs new charismatics.

#11 Old Charismatics believe in the faith once and for all delivered to the saints.

New charismatics are open minded – to the latest wind of cultural doctrine and emergent doctrine.
