Loose Ends
Facebook, Twitter, and many blogs have had two main concerns this week.
The last episodes of “Lost” and “24”.
I never saw a single episode of either…but I’m amazed at the amount of passion and devotion accorded these two broadcasts.
If Wednesday night prayer meetings received the same devotion we might have a revival…
It better happen soon because Harold Camping says we’ve got less than a year left.
The Rapture has been scheduled by Family Radio for May 21, 2011.

While a lot could be said about this foolishness, the main lesson is that once you remove yourself from the historic, catholic, community of believers to follow your own doctrines, shipwreck is inevitable.
Family Radio was at one time a respected Reformed media outlet…until Harold Camping went completely off the rails and people followed one man instead of the foundational teachings of the church through the ages.
True biblical faith only grows in the community of believers…

FIRST!
“True biblical faith only grows in the community of believers…”
Amen to that…wise words.
Well. if the rapture is scheduled for May 21 of next year, I hope that U2 reschedules their postponed concert in Seattle for sometime before that. I’d hate to waste the great seats I have . . .
Didn’t Campedout already predict the rapture was gonna happen back in the 90’s? That’s not fair, he can’t have two tries!
“To learn much more about the details of the end of the world……” Classic!! 😯
Maybe we’ll do E-Fest on May 21st next year! 🙂
Camping should arrange to have his radio programs terminated on the 20th of May. He should empty his bank accounts of every penny prior to May 21st to reach out to the lost. There’s a lot he could do if this was true but I’ll bet he won’t.
By the time 24 got to it’s final show, they had pretty much exhausted all the emotional energy out of that show. Each season it was the same struggle…stopping some type of terrorist from accomplishing their evil deed. After nine seasons I was so well accustomed to the writing that I was predicting almost everything that would happen. Farewell, Jack Bauer!
Lost was the most amazing TV show ever. Obviously not the place to get your theology, but the creators and writers placed their fingers squarely on the pulse of our need to be engaged in human relationships. I learned some things about myself by watching others in the midst of struggle that I am truly grateful for.
that little dog’s eyes are saying, “I’ll see you later, ma – it’s going to be ok ”
there’s another little terrier over there named “Skipper” that needed a playmate to chase cats with … lots of trees for the cats to sit in and say, “nah, nah, boo boo” – so no worries 🙂 and they all cuddle up for nap time
Poor little pup. 🙁
We had CoCo for 13 years and she got very sick so I took her in to be put down. As we were waiting she was looking at me with such happiness as we were out together. It tore me apart to stay with her in her last moments. I sure hope dogs go to Heaven.
bless you Madison* Bella….praying for you…I love dogs too…
aww…what sweet, sweet eyes..
It isn’t an either/or proposition, Michael. Our church had around the clock prayer for Jack Bauer and now we need a new passion. Chloe O’brian is my special pulpit guest this Sunday, unless the ODMers dig up some dirt on her and I drop her like a hot potato.
Erunner, I think, as along the lines of who we will be surprised to see in heaven, will be our loving pets…if I don’t see Freddy, I don’t want to go! Kidding, I think…..
Dave,
My mistake… 🙂
Wow Dave! That is so awesome – back to back cool weekends. Send us the details on Chloe’s speaking – then we can go and we’ll get the material for some really fun discussions the following weekend at efest, assuming of course the ODMers don’t meddle, but I mean, what ever could they dig up on Chloe???? Your church must be totally culture current!
I just looked her up…I think she’s a Calvinist. 🙂
Holly, so sorry.
Chloe’s a Calvanist? Say it isn’t so!! Does that mean that Dave is going to have to give her “the left boot of fellowship”? Cuz if he’s going to try – could someone videotape that? I want to see how it goes on youtube!
COOL!!! My wife is gonna love that for a birthday present. Hers is actually the 20th. But how cool to celebrate your birthday, then be swept into eternity in the very presence of God.
I told her last week it was gonna be a great year.
I am a little concerned about messing with Chloe. Jack was only able to choke her out with great effort, and only for a short time.
I am predicting that the woman President (can’t remember her name) will now get saved and go on the preaching circuit. She seemed repentant in the last few minutes of the show.
Oh yeah, President Taylor. Sorry Madame President.
You know if Mr. Campings staff cared a lick about him they would get him help, I am not a psychologist etc but he seems like he is struggling with mental health issues.
ma bel-
So sorry for and understanding of your loss. As I said before we had to put our 13 year old rat terrier down last month. She was our baby. Fit in the palm of your hand and woke you up every two hours to go potty at 6 weeks old. The extremely low blood sugar in the end put her into seizures that made me want to end it right then. And the screaming…..heart wrenching. So your post of what you came home to made my heart cry out for you and of course your pup.
Praying for strength, comfort and understanding of the good in Jesus Christ through this experience. For me it was varying aspects of our relationship with God as I remembered her character. Chiefly exampling unconditional love, forgiveness and faith/trust. I can just imagine when we see the Father all of our pets lazing on His lap. For they were His to begin with, He just sent them to us for those very reasons. To be comforters, teachers, testers, and to enrich our lives here.
And Bob, dogs teach us unconditional love. Cats test us in unconditional love. 🙂
Very true Michael…Never seen 24 or Lost also……LOL
Madison Bella, How sad I am for you and your daughter. I am just so sorry. How I love my one and only kitty. In the old days I pretty much had a “farm.” It’s so much work keeping all these animals, but there are so many rewards in our hearts.
Regarding the tv send offs; my remote is stuck on travel shows like Rick Steves.. I can watch the same travel show over and over. Boring must be my middle name, or I just like to dream! Today’s confession is that I truly enjoyed the last episode of 24, even though the last few seasons were horrible!
Michael, to make you feel better, I don’t know a sole who watched 24, or even cared about it. 🙂
I hate to change the subject, but I think I just read the most inane serious prayer request ever.
Peter Wagners wife Doris is having knee surgery and this was one of her requests:
“3. Please pray cleansing over any blood as well as the cadaver parts that are expected to be used. While we are very grateful to donors, some might come with negative spiritual baggage that I do not want or need. ”
Oppressed cadaver parts…I’ve heard it all now.
Holly…..I’m so sorry you lost your precious dog today.
Michael, I never watched 24 or Lost either, though I know lots of folks who loved both shows.
On a happy note, I just started my new job today and really like the group of people I’ll be working with.
Michael…that is a common horror-movie plot – where one gets the eye or hand of a killer or possessed person and it causes them problems..
(just keeping the Hollywood vibe going)
My wife has been acting different since getting two units of blood —
AV,
:-)…I’ve seen some of those movies
Linnea,
Big congrats on the new job!
DMW,
Shake a chicken over her…or something. 😉
Well the thing is she is acting healthier — She must have gotten sanctified blood — maybe even Kosher
By the way some strangers who took time to give blood saved my wife’s life — been thinking on that one for a while — life is in the Blood – and we can give life
Well, I have heard from reliable sources about hauntings coming from transplanted body parts, mostly gum tissue and cartilage from the deceased. In the middle of the night the victims would hear moaning coming from their gums, elbows and knees. The biggest problem was with the actual exorcisms. You had to hire (at great cost) specialists to cast out the evil spirits in each area of the body. Periodontists using holy mouth rinse were required for the gum exorcisms and Orthopedic surgeons using holy hammers blessed by TBN staff members to chisel out the demonic spirits embedded in the possessed cartilage grafts.
It looks like Family Radio has to either declare chapter 11 bankruptcy or set a date on the end of the world to generate some cash flow this quarter…could it be???
Oden! 🙂
Family Radio was huge and rolling in cash before Camping lost his cookies…
Hmmmm, maybe Family Radio has a one year shelf life then…
“Please pray cleansing over any blood as well as the cadaver parts that are expected to be used. While we are very grateful to donors, some might come with negative spiritual baggage that I do not want or need. ”
Do people seriously believe this bull$@^t?
Michael…thanks! I feel literally delivered!
Re: Mrs. Wagner’s prayer request…parts is parts…
This stuff is so far beyond the pale … Christendom has become Christendummies.
But I tell you in New Mexico the zionists are getting more wacky every day… they have ceremonies where they celebrate their tribal origins… so far they only have Judah… the most prominent of course, Levi, self explanatory and the rest are just Ephraim, the lost tribes. These people are completely apocalyptic, they would easily join Camping’s nonsense confidence in a quick return.. they are preparing ranches as refuges for the end times. … I am just fattening up myself… preparing for a long fast.
Who would ever have imagined Gentiles who are filled with racist pride about their Jewishness… one more dispensational cult…
I remember somewhere back in the early 1980’s I heard Mr. Camping on the radio blabbering on to some women about having to stay with an abusive husband. I mentioned this to a brother and he went on about how Mr. Camping was a man of God yada yada. I knew the guy was off back then. I really feel awful for him as a person but the damage he is doing and has done to churches and families is horrible, totally irrelevant, but still horrible.
Dave Rolph, will you be taping Chole’s message this Sunday or posting it on the internet? I don’t want to miss it.
😉
there was suppose to be a 😉 after my post.
