Loose Ends
This is a great piece from Rolling Stone magazine on Jerry Lee Lewis’ miraculous recovery from a stroke and the restoration of his ability to play piano.
I bring this up mainly because it’s my blog and I want to…but also remembering how controversial my love for the man and his music has been over the years.
People were shocked that such a wicked man would be such a huge part of my life and that I made no apology for it.
Christians were very judgmental, not only of secular artists but their own.
When you can find reasons to hate Amy Grant, you’re way too holy for me.
I digress…
I wonder with the full throated approval of the current President despite his behavior having more similarities to Jerry Lee than Billy Graham, if morality matters anymoreΒ or if evangelicals have further eroded what tiny bit of moral authority we have left.
Actually, I wonder if there is such a thing as moral authority left in any institution…
Today is #LoveYOurPets day…as if we only did so one day a year…if you need reminded to love your pets, you shouldn’t have any pets…
This is the time of year when I used to spend hours shaking down sources to find out who was going to speak at the annual Calvary Chapel Senior Pastors Conference. This used to be a BIG deal and I delighted in upsetting my critics by posting the names well in advance of their official release. Now, no one cares much here or elsewhere…you can find the lineup for this year here.
Just a few more scandals and splits and the SBC will draw similar crowds…
Well…. Goodness gracious… πΊ
Do we know that he doesn’t ask forgiveness? It looks like God might, maybe be working on him? ? ? He does have family in The Family, does he not?

Sorry, it is quiet up here this afternoon
Heβs walking the straight and narrow now…cramming for finals…
Speaking of Jerry Lee Lewis, his disgraced cousin Jimmy Swaggart is still around and kicking, albeit in very much reduced capacity and empire…
Swaggart, rather dramatically, publicly repented – does that restore him – called to his former public ministry? I wouldn’t, but i was never “called” in the first place… So.. God hasn’t hit him with a bolt of lightening… Is he teaching sound, uncompromising, but compassionate doctriine?
Other things to think about today, but….
