Miss Kitty’s Thanksgiving Message: From 2018
I am one of those people who will lay in bed and imagine confrontational conversations with those I have grievances against.
I skillfully make an airtight case against my adversary, then fillet them with my wit and words.
Needless to say, I never lose those imaginary arguments…at least I hadn’t until I decided to take on God the other night.
“The statistical probability of actually seeing a prayer answered is less than that of winning the lottery”, I ranted.”Getting hit by lightning is more likely, particularly for talking like this to God”.
I was deep into a skillful debunking of “the promises of God” when God interrupted me.
“Pray like Miss Kitty”.
This annoyed me and I reminded Him that Miss Kitty is a cat and cats do not engage in religious ritual.
That’s when Miss Kitty did what she does every night around the same time…she walked up the the length of my body until her face was against mine and started purring and kneading.
That’s my cue to get out of bed and get her a snack.
“See?” said the Lord of hosts…
“That’s not praying”, I objected, “she’s just trying to be nice so I’ll get up and feed her”.
“You’re wrong” said Yahweh, “She knows you will get up already. She’s expressing her love for you and her thanks for what she already knows will happen. She does not doubt your kindness toward her, nor does she ever think you will leave her hungry”.
I reminded Him that there have been a few times when I didn’t get up.
“That’s true. In those times she laid down beside you and and rested until you did get up…because she trusts you.”
I have been shamed by the faith of my cat…
On this Thanksgiving morning let us pray like Miss Kitty.
Let us thank the Lord that He has been faithful and worship Him for what He has done for us in Christ and what He will do soon in response to our prayers.
Let us rest in Him while we wait…
Happy Thanksgiving and may the Lord bless each one of you where you need it the most.
Make your own application…

Happy Thanksgiving, Michael!
It took me a long time to understand that God did hear and answer my prayers, even when the answer didn’t seem to come . Often, He had answered, but I was so focused on what I wanted that I missed it. I’ve learned that He hears my prayers, answers as He sees fit, but that He really wants me to enjoy time with Him. It made a big difference in how I pray.
Happy Thanksgiving, Linn!
Thanks, Miss Kitty and, to a lesser extent, Michael. Indeed, there is much to be grateful for.
We have much to be thankful for .Even in the darkest of times. God is always with us. 😺
Have blessed day .
