I recently asked a new believer in our church, who was having struggles with his non believing family (they want him to sacrifice a chicken for his ancestors, amongst other things), “Draw an imaginary circle around your family: how many of them are Christians?”
His answer: zero, other than himself.
My answer: 4
I would take it as a personal favor if you’d answer and post it here.
It certainly was a good explanatory tool for him and I, and another guy I’m close with.
My surviving family has none that I know of.
Some of the departed ones claimed the faith,but their hypocrisy kept me away from the church for years…
Surrounded by a family hostile to the Faith is rough… Many a marriage has ended on this … But doesn’ t God say to let them go?
I sometimes wonder if i erred in showing my mother respect when she was so hostile and contemptuous of the Faith..
Hope this gets discussed some more here….
Notre Dame is burning… No matter your denomination or your observances of choice this Holy Week, i hope you mourn this and do so with constraint and prayer
