I don’t let my family get me stuff for my b’days, but sometimes they insist on “milestone” years. I guess 55 is one. It’s a couple of days off, but my wife wanted me to open my present today, probably because I’m taking the weekend off. She got me the new Kindle Paperwhite, and it’s awesome. I just read Rms 1 on my balcony, with the Florida sun in my face, and it’s very print-like. Highly recommended if you want an e reader.
I have a ton of links on my blog to free kindle books.
If you want to keep abreast of free and cheap Christian books this is a good site to watch daily. http://www.gospelebooks.net/
It’s funny-we gave away our kindle when we started getting iPads, and my wife reads every day on her iPad. I’ve probably only read two or three books, and didn’t really love it. For just e reading, this little thing is really working for me. Nice to be able to load PDFs to access on this little weightless thing at board meetings.
Here is a post I put together in September of all my free and cheap book links.
Note: A lot of these are classic or out of copyright books, so they are always free.
But, please check the price before downloading. I haven’t checked all these links in a while.
I have always read Malcolm Gladwell’s books and claimed that I thought they sounded like treatises inspired by scriptural principles. Then his book David and Goliath comes out and this revelation… Malcolm has returned to his faith.
Wicked – seen it three times, most recently on Broadway. Have to say cuurent elphaba and Glinda are best I ‘ve seen. Being a Musical show type of person, best I’ve seen in 50 years of going. Pure thatricality, musicality of Wicked is a mind blower. Know you will enjoy.
Jeff,
Thank you. I know my wife is excited to see it in February.
We generally don’t have a lot of money to splurge with, but my wife has really wanted to go and do something like this for awhile. So, I suggested it and she was happy.
I was watching some Ergun Caner videos the ones that he has not scrubbed and boy he can tell a story. I mean it just flows, I admire that in a strange way. You know the first time I heard Mike Warnkee I thought the numbers just dont add up. It was the same way I felt when I saw Dr. Caner on the Ankerberg show. He will be back in the big league real soon, thats a good thing right?
Thanks Derek. It’s different than most renderings yet it’s very powerful. I came here to post a song that I’ve been listening to a lot. Maybe someone will be blessed. I hope so
Got some photos up for the week.

Also, got some free tickets to this in April.

The free part of the conference that is. John Piper and Tony Evans are speaking.
Also, my wife and I purchased tickets to see “Wicked”.
I liked the book, not quite sure how the musical will be.
Anyone been to see it?
Derek,
Discovering that you were looking for (and finding) beauty during your time there says a lot about you.
Jim,
There is always beauty around. We just have to look and recognize it.

Caner, Driscoll…bah!
Probably so, Brian.
E,
I really enjoyed the “Come, O Come, Emmanuel”. I heard that earlier this week.
