Every time I am in church and I hear some form of the word “corporately”, as in “Lord we come before you corporately…”, or “we shall take communion corporately”, I want to scream. It seems to have become popular in the mid ’90’s and has never passed. It bothers me to the point that I lose some respect for the user. Any insights among this “corporation of bloggers” as to why I might feel this way? Thank you for your input.
After seeing the trees in the background, it makes me want to try something with sky in it.
I only remembered those pictures, because my Dad and I went out and I got some pics of a bald eagle.
I was cycling through my photos on my digital camera and saw them on there and decided to compile them into a gif.
Glad, I didn’t erase them.
Bad thing is, the bald eagle was to far away to get any really good shots of it. You can tell it is a bald eagle, but the detail is lacking.
I loved my buddies, I loved my unit, we did a great and honorable job in all we did on both my deployments.
That being said, what a spectacular waste of time it was being over there for this to happen.
I sat in on a drug/alcohol recovery group at church last night. Folks there who are less than a month sober while others live in group homes. It was awesome to see how the church is reaching out to those who many would look down upon.
I donated blood at the church the other day and got to know a young man (36!!) whose face and neck are covered with tattoos. He told me his story and why he has the tattoos and it broke my heart. After he came to faith he visited 10 churches in the area and 8 asked him not to come back. He’s a great guy and it was him who invited me to visit the group. There’s a story behind every “undesirable” we cross paths with. We can learn a lot from them.
I dont want to get any more controversies on the blog but Michael you might want to dig a bit in the Doug Phillips issues, you can Google the name. It is much deeper and I would say even rivals SGM issues. This issue will become more public in the near future.
An aside it appears Dr. Brown who is a noted charismatic leader has interviewed Benny Hinn and he will appear on Hinn’s show if I am correct. I watched from the very outside at all the handwaving on both sides. Each casting Jesus curses at each other. How strange that is, The two cases are not dissimilar in that there are agendas and people look past the good of the Church.
I can say this in a strange way because I am way outside the pale of orthodoxy and by definition not a member of the Church. I find this very interesting and troublesome at the same time.
Julie Anne has done great work on the Phillips mess over on spiritualsoundingboard.com
She’s got that story nailed…I certainly couldn’t do better.
Anyone who associates with Hinn gets what they deserve…
I think you’re a member of the Church…so if He lets me vote, you’re in. 🙂

Semantics.
To come before the Lord corporately simply means to come as one body.
Very biblical.
Has nothing to do with coming as a business entity…
I agree with Michael but I also hear where Max is coming from. I try to use the term “in community” to express the same thing.
It comes from the word “corporeal” in this sense.
1. of or relating to a person’s body, esp. as opposed to their spirit.
They are by no means meaning anything to do with a corporation.
Put up a timelapse gif of a pastel drawing I did a while back.

That was cool!
Derek you are very talented…..and I dig timelapse photography of just about anything. Aging, building a stadium, making artwork…

Even the NYT has noticed:

Like Mormons, they prey on evangelicals.
I use the word “we.” As in, “Lord, we come before you…”
