When I want to kick back and relax, I turn on my laptop, go to Phoenix Preacher and read the banter between MLD and RB. 🙂

    FIRST!

  3. Ricky Bobby says:

Bob Sweat, you are always “first” around here. I was merely holding your place sir 🙂

    Bob 🙂

Reading is a big one for me for relaxing. Usually it is the mix of heading off to a local coffeeshop and finding a corner where I can set up for an extended time. There is something about the din of noise and the people watching mixed with the opportunity to read uninterrupted. Doesn’t happen quite often enough 😉

A night at home with no agenda but a decent movie, popcorn and giggling kids is also great!

The three B’s for me. Beach, Babe (my wife), Book.

That trifecta is a rarity, but the balcony, my wife, and a book works. Fiction only, so I guess I need to escape to relax.

    Bob Sweat–hahahahaha

To relax….. naps are nice…. but I love going outside…. walking, gardening, just sitting outside talking to God….. When we bought this house, we didn’t know that there was a nature trail less than 2 blocks away….It is such a blessing to be in the trees or listening to a creek within minutes of walking out the front door. Ahhhh!

  7. Ricky Bobby says:

Exercise and drinking alcohol helps me relax as well.

Watch my old Pro Wrestling DVD’s, currently watching 1985 AWA and 1984 WWF ST. Louis Wrestling at the Chase. I also do fantasy booking where I book different promotions form the 80’s, I write the TV’s, the house shows and the supercards. I bring in and let go wrestlers and sign announcers and book the arenas for the house shows. Right now I am booking the AWA in 1985 and I am in March, I plan to book the promotion all the way up to their demise in Decemeber 1991. I guess this what you do when you have no wife to have relations with 🙂

  9. Tim says:

What I do to relax? Run or cook BBQ. The first hobby makes consuming copious amounts of the second hobby possible. 🙂

    Well, since its required:

I roll a fatty and then smoke it. Well, at least I wish I did. Maybe I’ll move to Colorado.

I used to paint with oils. Someday I’m gonna take it up again.

I go for a walk in the woods, go for a ride, split wood or spend the day in town.

In the cold snowy winters I prefer the library or at home watching my sci fi collection,SG 1….Star Trek……ditto.Reading is a nice night time activity.Summer is to short to be inside or outside relaxing.

  13. filbertz says:

I hike with my dog, Trigger, or ride either my mountain bike or road bike, or either go out to dinner with my wife or have a pile of friends over for grub, or work in the yard, or go to a quiet coffee shop with a good book, or quaff a brew or two…

  14. Jeff Hensley says:

Casting a fly in a high altitude body of water far from cell reception is like therapy for me. Just me, God, big fish, and a cup of coffee. I’m supposed to say that catching fish isn’t even important in those scenarios, but that’s what people that don’t catch fish say. 😉

  15. J.U. says:

I mostly enjoy reading, although if I want some mindless relaxation, then it is the TV for sure. I also listen to music to relax but also when I exercise or go for walks, although I don’t listen to music while I read as I get distracted. (I love iPod random play.)

  16. erunner says:

Music has always been relaxing for me. I also relax by watching the tube such as last night when I discovered a good show on Netflix titled “Chuck.” Calm down RB… not THAT Chuck! 🙂

  17. Ricky Bobby says:

‘Calm down RB… not THAT Chuck!”

    LOL 🙂

Relaxation is NFL football with my Irish friends and my wife… and Ricky Bobby’s first answer is his best ever.

  19. Jim says:

When I don’t want to relax, I watch CSPAN. Commitee hearing today:

Sen Rand Paul: “Do you believe that the 4th Amendment protects my VISA bill?”

DHS Nominee Jeh Johnson: “I don’t have a legal opinion on that.”

Sen Rand Paul: “Do you believe a single warrant can apply to millions of records, and millions of individuals?”

DHS Nominee Jeh Johnson: “I don’t have a legal opinion on that.”

  20. Gary says:

I have 3 favorite ways to relax. The first is going to my fave beach to look for Agates. This beach is actually 3 beaches. I have many, many thousands of Agates. I’ve polished most of them. The biggest one is the size of my fist. I’ve made necklaces and earrings and nightlights.

My second fave thing to relax is to smoke ribs, tri tip, or salmon.

My third fave thing is to write bad poetry and parody.

  21. Read a book. (fiction relaxes me)
Listen to some vinyl. Mostly jazz, older country, or classical on my vinyl. These relax me.
Partake of a few adult beverages at the house.

  22. Dave Sloane says:

Skim the net mindlessly like I am doing at this moment.

Hang on the couch with the wife while she controls the remote, while we are eating fresh air popped pop corn with lots of salt and curry powder. She can’t understand how we men can channel surf for hours and never actually watch anything…LOL

I can’t understand how she can watch so many hours of boring other people’s lives on TV every day.

Right now relaxing in my big leather chair with the laptop on my knees staring at this screen as usual.

Used to go deep out into the desert one weekend a month with the guys, far away from everything where it is super quiet, to wait upon the Lord. Very relaxing and peaceful. But over the years the traffic has increased tremendously, making it a big effort to get out to the Mojave desert. So after doing it for about 25 years or so we kind of drifted away from doing it as much.

This leather chair is starting to take on that magnificent patina of age. I inherited it from my sons grandpa and his son will inherit it from me one day should the Lord extend His return. Every man should have one, don’t you think?

  23. Right now though, I am relaxing by watching Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.

  24. Ixtlan says:

    Dave S.
I used to love going out to Mojave and ride dirt bikes. Was out there one time and a flash flood came up. We scrambled and got out of there.

  25. I got trapped on an M1A1 tank for a few hours during a flash flood at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin. After the storm, I climbed out onto the front deck and our tanks were surrounded in a flowing river of water. A few hours later and you couldn’t even tell it rained.

  26. jlo says:

    first choice, walking my dogs.

    second choice, cooking.

third choice, napping. which is easy to do after talking a walk, and eating a big meal.

  27. Heavy drinking… Ok, so not heavy drinking. If I’m under certain types of stress though, a drink may be included. I enjoy learning and reading. I do like to go to places where cellphones no longer work. You can’t call me if I can’t receive the phone call. Working on my jeep is relaxing when it’s something that isn’t necessary.

My music tastes are varied, from jazz, to rap, to hardcore, to bubblegum pop, to alternative, to techno. I listen to music based upon the mood that I’m in.

  28. Write, read, get to the woods. Not necessarily in in that order.

  29. gomergirl says:

Nap. Read. Knit and watch something I’v seen a million times (usually Doctor Who, Buffy or something on the DVR) Stay home and not go out. Have a beer (especially when its one I got to help make)

  30. Reuben says:

I dont know how to relax anymore. So today, I called in “mentally sick”. This got a good laugh from the dispatcher. I may trade my phone in. Maybe play with my new rock crawler. Just got coffee with my wife, and played 8 straight games of some cube puzzle game on facebook. Walked my son to the bus. Heavy drinking will start about noon. Maybe I will surf youtube. Have not done that is a while.

  31. I only relax when my body finally shuts down and I get sick. Then I stay in bed for a week. Other than that, I’m busy, or feeling guilty about not being busy.

  32. When I relax, I feel guilty.
