Potters Field, Rozells , Back In “Ministry”
I came across an interesting press release this morning from Him First Media puffing up Mike and Pam Rozell’s latest foray into “ministry”.
Strangely enough it doesn’t mention the Rozell’s history…dozens of stories of spiritual abuse of young people at the hand of the Rozell’s.
It doesn’t mention that the organization was cut off from the Calvary Chapel Association churches.
It doesn’t mention the labor board rulings against the Rozell’s as employers at the hamburger joint it’s advertising.
It doesn’t mention the issues surrounding the “missionary work”.
It doesn’t mention the damage done to young souls that continues to haunt some to this very day.
The puff piece doesn’t mention those things, so I will.
Once again we learn…there’s no grift like the Christian grift.
No matter the pain done to people or the shame brought on the name of Jesus, it’s just too easy to make a good buck pretending to be righteous.
Let’s hope more people don’t pay for this “ministry”.
It’s like watching your child on a carousel. Just wait a moment and they’ll be back around, again and again. So sick of these people.

Oh my! I first learned about PhoenixPreacher because of following internet links about the Rozells (I had read about Potters Field on a different site, but I can’t remember which one). I really liked PP, but I sure didn’t like anything I read about the Rozells.
What made me so angry about the Rozells was that I went on to being a fulltime missionary because of two excellent summer experiences, the first in Mexico and the second in Colombia. Both trips made great use of my language and teaching abilities, but also challenged me in different ways. I think all summer experiences should be that way.
Grifters only know how to grift. As CK said, give the carousel time and it will complete the circle. Every time I go to Glacier I drive past Mudman and grieve.
Linn, where did you do your missionary work? I had led short term groups and got to see God some really cool stuff in people’s lives. But even in the short term world, there are some hucksters.
I know Pastor Mike, Don and Craig all very well.
I will only say this, what is posted on here has ruined peoples lives for no reason, the stuff is not true. Any pastor who violates scripture while pretending to rebuke someone is a joke.
All of these men and you included will answer to Jesus in that day.
I do believe that Don and Craig are going to heaven, but the bible says we will give an account to Jesus for every good and bad thing that we have done.
I personally ask you to stop trying to ruin people, after years of investigations no criminal or civil charges have been found and the only ones in trouble are Don and Craig. All of these sites will be unindexed, as the lawsuits will require to be unindexed or come and fight the justice system and spend tens of thousands of dollars defending articles that are proven to be complete lies.

Hello Mike, My name is Tom Donovan and I am aware of all of those allegations. I would like to say hello and introduce myself, I am an ordained Pastor of Calvary Chapel and I have planted a few churches and none of them are associated with Calvary Chapel. There are many reasons why but the biggest reason I have to disassociate myself was because of the letters and abuse by CCA head Don McClure (Who Posts a letter on the phoenix preacher or any online magazine or blog)?
Anyway I know many pastors who are ordained that went through what you are saying is a cult and fraud. But I want to tell you, many men and women that I know absolutely love Pastor Mike and when I ask them about their experience in the field I hear about nothing but we signed up for a tough ministry position because we were hooked on Drugs and Pastor Mike saved our lives.
So many men and women that I know have a completely different outlook on Pastor Mike then you do and the people who started this non sense in the first place.
Anyway at the hands of Don and Craig, its my understanding that was who fueled these kids with drug additions and no money to jump on board a wild train that they might get some money if they say this and that and the third. (All Carefully Planned).
So I kindly pray and ask you to please just stop and ask yourself, do pastors go around posting repent and rebuke letters online or do they go to their prayer closet and pray for their friends and brothers and sisters of many decades???
Its a personal issue, and you were used as a porn in the take down.
Potters field ministries was never closed, the google maps and the yelp was illegally shut down while these letters were being written and while phone calls and emails were going out to take over the sponsored kids of PFM.
Its always about the money and the power and the pride.
I ask you to just pray and ask God to show you the truth my friend, the Holy Spirit will guide and direct you, just pray.

yes Mike, all created with the same narrative.
It is really so sad.
I can put you on the phone with a half dozen men and women who will say that just was not the truth and Pastor Mike saved their lives.
I know because it seems so overwhelming that it must be true, but ask yourself, after the govt audits of both potters field and Mudman, ask yourself.
How are they not in Jail and still allowed to operate if any one of the allegations of abuse, sealing, any of it would have landed them bankrupt and in prison but nothing happened.

I want to challenge the writer of this to change the title from “back in ministry” to “STILL IN MINISTRY” PottersField has never stopped feeding children, discipling youth and helping people around the world. So not sure what they/he/she means when they say “back.” I’m an eye witness testimony to this and still part of this amazing Ministry to this day!!!

I AM A FIRSTHAND WITNESS from the year 2012 to date. My name is Harrun Onunga.
What I have read online about the Rozell’s and Potter’s Field Ministries is a sham. Again, how is it possible that such allegations have never been prosecuted? Is it a failure on the part of the government or the accusers? Let me help you. It is a principle in law that ” HE WHO ALLEGES MUST PROVE”. This should prick anyone’s conscience whether the allegations were true in the first place or not.
LET’S GET OUR FACTS RIGHT.
As a leader in Potter’s Field Ministries, I have been to all the three locations in Africa. I not only served with interns in Kenya but was responsible for the programming of their activities until when I moved to other locations in the continent. Kenya has had about 56 interns. Many of them I have led. Here are a few points to ponder on. At what point was the program a scam or cult as alleged? Please be mindful that I was actively involved and there are photos, newsletters and local African witnesses involved.
* As the interns sat in their residence at Olekasasi, in Rongai, there was provision of all their basic amenities. It is in this location that they prayed and prepared for the lessons to teach the children. Where was the scam in this or how was this a cult?
* When they showed up for kids club, they bonded with the children, taught them lessons using different methods, helped to distribute food and some even fed the little ones. Was this a scam and where does this turn to be a cult?
* As the interns led the children to receive Jesus Christ, where was the scam or cult in this?
* What of when they walked the children home or joined the teens for a soccer match. Were they scamming the African children or leading them to join a cult that they knew?
* After school the interns would help the community children in tuition. Moreover they would even go further and do school outreaches in the local schools around Rongai (I will reserve the names of the schools). On Sunday the interns would visit an orphanage (children’s home) and minister to orphans.
Again, I was there. BE COGNISANT THAT THE ROZELL’S WERE MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR THE INTERNS TO FIND A LOCATION TO MINISTER, PLUS THEY GOT UPDATES FROM THE LEADERS ON GROUND HOW THE INTERNS WERE DOING. Not only I, but our communities embraced them (interns) and were blessed by them. We had a bond with them. Each team of interns would spend 6 months at a time in an African location. Some of the interns are back in Africa today, doing a kids program or ministry as they felt led by the Lord. Others are back and have found African spouses with whom they do Ministry with to date.
For the time they were (interns) here, they had American overseers and a DIRECT follow-up from Montana was often not done by Rozell’s but a different leader whose name I withhold. Pastor Mike Rozell was often on tours, sharing Jesus and mobilizing resources for the greater good of all those involved in the ministry.
A CULT, A SCAM..Really? Would any one go to that extent of rubbishing all the work that the Lord did through this young men and women by calling it a cult. How many children, church leaders and children ministry workers do you think have read these allegations here in Africa? Aren’t you aware that with smart phones the children in Africa know about the civil unrest in California as of this month June 2025? How about what affects them directly, like mentorship and sponsorship by Potter’s Field Ministries? How much resources have been lost that would feed, educate or support the local staff to share Jesus because of the slander and libel through the allegations? Which African government would entertain or process visas for ministers involved in cults and or scams? Pastor Mike Rozell has been to Africa several times, the recent being last year 2024.
WHAT WAS SHARED ABOUT PASTOR MIKE AND PAM ROZELL WAS A WITCH-HUNT.
To say the least, I have a legal background. I have done my own investigations and I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MY DAY IN COURT. The court of public opinion can be swayed by bloggers and those with “means”. Mike please do your own digging.
I feel sorry for some interns, for they were made accessories after the fact. The dice was cast way before they were involved in posting nasty things online.
POTTERS FIELD IS ALIVE. IT NEVER DIED.
Contrary to what you have mentioned that it is back in ministry. IT NEVER LEFT OR STOPPED. I want to assert that WE HAVE NEVER MISSED A WIRE TRANSFER, NOT EVEN A DELAY PAST THE 6TH OF EVERY MONTH. I speak for the three locations in Africa: Kenya, Uganda and D.R. Congo. Bank statements are available for those who would wish to challenge this. If any thing the number of those ministered to in our Potter’s Field programs has grown.
Currently, I am in Potter’s Field Ministries Uganda, where we not only do children ministry but we just had a successful MUDMAN TOURNAMENT CUP 7TH EDITION from the 28th of May last month. An evangelism tournament with an average of 400 attendees each day. Seventeen football teams from across Entebbe participated. In Goma, the DRC where I have been serving with PFM for the last ten years, we have served more than 81,200 meals each year to children alone. Again, I have the records. In Kenya, Potter’s Field academy (school) was birthed in 2015 and is operational to date. That notwithstanding, every location has high school sponsorship of not less that 11 children plus the kids club program.
These are not statements, those who are blessed by Potter’s Field Ministries are the witnesses. Nobody has bothered to seek their opinion.
Pastor Don and Pastor Craig did not care about the ministry. Particularly, at the point where they made public allegations. These two were the best of friends with Pastor Mike Rozell for several years. Think with me for a minute, if one of the McClure’s says that Potter’s Field is a cult and they are part of the leadership, doesn’t that implicate them as well? Or let’s take how Pastor Craig did an open letter to the Phoenix preacher and said that what Pastor Mike was doing was a “show”. Then why would he receive the proceeds of a man whom he knew was doing a “show”? Doesn’t that implicate him? So what exactly did they want that led them to go public and foster such allegations?

First, they accuse me of being dishonest or compromised in some way. If they can put questions about my character or motives into people’s minds, they believe that will carry the day over any evidence presented.

Second, they question whether the evidence is really evidence. They will often point to the fact that criminal charges have not been brought, ignoring the fact that spiritual abuse and the abuse of authority aren’t against the law anywhere.

The reasoning is that, without a legal conviction, nothing really happened.
The next step is to throw shade at the victims…they aren’t really victims but have some ulterior motive to cause harm to the holy leaders.

It must have hit a really sore spot. I think they were trying be very quiet about their activities and the Rozells’ emergence from whatever rock they were hiding under. Hence the reaction, the jig is up (again) and they send in their flying monkeys to run interference, intimidate, etc. All I can say is that DISCOVERY is a wonderful thing, especially if you are the defendant. The threats of lawsuits are empty bluster.
There are no goons, I am an independent. Michael called me out and my friends who know Michael all responded.
Many many more went on and I have not even told them to post anything.
The people who posted are a very few people who actually read this blog.
If you want, we have hundreds of interns, churches, pastors etc that want to speak up.

A reference to Rom 14:12 and the doctrine of rewards of a believer’s works.
Oddly the Rom 14:11-12 quote seems to not really be saying what this poster has been taught.
“For it is written, “AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL GIVE PRAISE TO GOD.” So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.”
The quote given is from Isaiah 45:23 ““I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.”
The imagery is those who hear God’s word will bow and swear an allegiance to Him.
It can be compared to a man who swears to another they will follow the former’s instructions.
The author of Rom 14:12 expands this swearing in verse 13,
“Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this—not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way.”
If one confesses and swears to follow the Lord, he or she will do what He instructs. “Therefore” it would be a failure to put obstacles or anything preventing others from hearing and coming to the point of bowing and making an “alliance” with Him.
When a ministry, pastor, doctrine(s) prevent others from hearing God…, well the point is abusive men and women are guilty. It’s a failure we all have to pay attention to in our own lives.
Is the Potter’s field guilty? From the reporting here on PP, I’d say they may be, but I would need more evidence before any judgement could be made. The reality is I have no right or ability to actually “judge” them.
Regardless, this type of “ministry” and “leader” behavior is why I have little confidence in these “ministries” anymore. It seems to me they are in reality a source of income and self gratification for the leaders. These days I just stay away from them.
I’d rather support life through programs like, “Preborn” and “Tunnel to Towers.”

I only met Mike a few times and everyone referred to him as Pastor Mike.
The two times I met pastor Mike was at Calvary chapel Philly men’s conference before the Pastors Conference.
And in Africa @ our missionary mens breakfast.
Everyone I know refers to him as Pastor Mike.
I assume you all in Montana call him Michael, but in Church and ministry circles we know him as Pastor Mike

Good grief.
I am sure within the hundreds in the goon army are a bunch of social media influencers and analytics people to drive up the positives in the social media and bury the negative.
Of course, if they say I am mocking a thing of God, I will say God is big enough to defend himself, he doesn’t need a bunch of hacks getting up in arms using His Name for their personal empires. To quote James Kirk, “What does God need with a starship?”
Sigh…and the cycle of abuse continues. Those who wonder how ministries like PFM continue…this is how: Wait a number of years until things die down, prey on a brand new cycle of people who weren’t involved or directly involved (or know nothing about) all of the previous issues with the ministry and make them leaders, pastors, and senior staff, and then lie. Lie, lie, lie. I saw it happen in the decade I worked and travelled with the Rozells, and I’m not surprised to see it happen again…and again.
However, nothing is ever as it seems. PFM was always great at putting on a pleasant fascade to the outside world, but there was always the inner turmoil and chaos churning beneath the surface, about ready to blow. For those ready to hear it (and for those who aren’t), there is hope, help, love, and life beyond the Rozells and Potters Field Ministries.
We all deserve to be treated with common decency and respect because we are human beings created in God’s image and beloved by Him; not yelled at, belittled, threatened, or made to cry or ‘repent’, all at someone’s bidding. I wish someone had told me that back then.
And lastly…it took me years to really grasp this after all of the spiritual abuse- God really is still in control, with or without the Rozells ‘in’ ministry or ‘out’ of ministry. At least now, there are loads of articles and stories that tell the truth, and if that saves at least one person from packing up their belongings and heading out to the unknown in Montana, then I’ll say, Amen.
Thank you for everything you do, Michael. Please don’t grow weary of being a conduit of the truth, even when I’m certain you must get tired of the mess 🙂
There’s probably a lot of students who went through Pottersfield Ranch who had positive experiences. There’s also plenty who were spiritually, psychologically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abused. Abusers don’t do it to everyone. They choose who they can control. I was one of the girls who Mike took in and “saved.” He was good to me. And then I was sexually assaulted by Roger Gales, a PFM board member and long time friend of Mike Rozell’s. I came forward and Mike covered it up. At the time he told me he dealt with it privately with Roger. He told the other board members that we had some sort of inappropriate interaction and nobody spoke up or questioned it. I remained at the Ranch for 1 year and though I made life-long friends with other students, Mike’s mishandling of Roger’s sexual abuse propelled me into years of trauma and confusion. No abuser is all bad. Mike is a gifted, charismatic man with a god-complex, narcissistic traits, and control/anger issues. I’m sure his ministry has done plenty of good things. But without true reflection and repentance he will also continue to abuse the vulnerable and leave a path of destruction behind him.
Time flies when you’re in a cult. 8 years. Started out fine. Even amazing. Purpose, mission, big picture Jesus stuff. An opportunity only God could ordain. And then as you got closer to Mike, the worse it got. And being one of his “guys” that he used to build Mudman, I saw so much, too much of the unfortunate side of Mike Rozell. Probably could have gone down as one of the most influential, God used, evangelist. But too much self got in his way. Hard to call it fake news when you’ve lived it. And no one’s called me to really listen and hear it.
God bless all of you who were victims of this organization.
It must make it even harder to see people rise to the defense of the Rozells.

As someone who has experienced the abuse first hand from Mike (8 years at PFM – age 18-26) I have to say, it’s disheartening to see they are back in “ministry” and to read some of these comments belittling the testimonies from victims who boldly brought the truth to light. I can attest the validity of many of their accusations… since I was there.
I wholeheartedly believe in feeding the hungry, and making disciples – but Mike has proven countless times that his anger and lack of self-control disqualify him from being a pastor. The abuse I experienced at his hand left me fearful and distrusting of the church. It has taken me many years to re-enter ministry, and I still struggle with crippling fear and anxiety when it comes to church leadership. It would break my heart if any other young person suffered at the hand of their abuse. I sincerely hope they do not continue the cycle with another generation of young people.

Just coming in here to say I know many of the parties who have posted. I was involved with PFM 2013-2017. I saw countless lives transformed by the Holy Spirit through PFM sponsored ministries and funding. I believe that children today are very likely being reached by the Holy Spirit through programs funded by PFM.
However, none of this absolves the abuse that I witnessed first hand and it’s a tragedy to me that we’re still on this. People’s lives and trust in spiritual leadership were forever damaged by Mike and continue to be. I am still having conversations with people about the trauma they endured to this day.
To claim any accusations of abuse are absolved as heresay because there are examples of good being accomplished is asinine. History is wrought with evil being perpetrated through acts of ‘good intent’ or a pure heart, even if some good actually came from them.
At this point we’re beating a dead horse – those who want to continue believing in the fantasy of PFM are going to regardless of others that are thrown to the wayside, damaged and hurt. My prayer is simply that anyone still involved with PFM is treated well and that the Holy Spirit guards their hearts against idolatry and abuse.
