Prayer & Praise
When the world spins crazy,
spins wild and out of control,
spins toward rage and hate and violence,
spins beyond our wisdom and nearly beyond our faith,
When the world spins to chaos as it does now among us …
We are glad for sobering roots that provide ballast in the storm.
So we thank you for our rootage in communities of faith,
for many fathers and mothers who have believed and trusted as firm witnesses to us,
for their many stories of wonder, awe, and healing.
We are glad this night in this company for the rootage of the text,
for its daring testimony,
for its deep commands,
for its exuberant tales.
Because we know that as we probe deep into this text … clear to its bottom, we will find you hiding there,
we will find you showing yourself there,
speaking as you do,
governing,
healing,
judging.
And when we meet you hiddenly, we find the spin not so unnerving, because from you the world again has a chance for life and sense and wholeness.
We pray midst the spinning, not yet unnerved, but waiting and watching and listening, for you are the truth that contains all our spin.

I have a praise. As you may recall, my husband and I and everybody on our street were going to face several thousand dollars in assessments from our city in the next couple years when the city installed new sewers and water lines and repaved the street. The city, however, has voted to pretty much completely eliminate special assessments and move to a different system for financing street repairs. Now, the only bill we might face is $1000 if our sewer lateral needs to be replaced. That seems reasonable to me, and I am happy with the outcome.
I have had problems with my eyes since I was a kid eventually I got glaucoma in my right eye after a virus. Well anyway I woke up on Thursday and I had lost most of my vision in my right eye. It turns out it was infected. I went to the doctor and she told me there was a possibility I could lose my eye all together. I was afraid, and I am ashamed of that fact, terribly ashamed.Anyway we caught the infection and I am doing so much better. I have had to adjust to losing much of my vision in that eye but it really. I was so terribly afraid to post here or even ask for prayer as it has been drilled into me almost from day one, all I want is attention. Well ya, I was scared and I wanted some attention but it was not some planned out manipulative way to get it. I mean I did not infect my eye on purpose so I could garner some attention. Anyway I am truly grateful for the prayer I did get from one Christian and for the doctors. God really worked and showed me His power.
Brian, I will definitely be praying for your eyes.
I’ve been having trouble with my eyes for over a year. Been to the doc a couple times and he can’t figure out what’s up. He saw it was inflamed, but we can not isolate what triggers it.
I can definitely related to the fear involved. No reason to be ashamed of that or asking for prayer.

Wanted to say thanks my eye is ok but the vision loss is most likely permanent so it will take some getting use to. Basically I lost about 70% of my already bad vision.
