Prayer & Praise
We arrange our lives as best we can, to keep your holiness at bay,
with our pieties,
our doctrines,
our liturgies,
our moralities,
our secret ideologies,
Safe, virtuous, settled.
And then you…
you and your dreams,
you and your visions,
you and your purposes,
you and your commands,
you and our neighbors.
We find your holiness not at bay,
but probing, pervading,
insisting, demanding.
And we yield, sometimes gladly, sometimes resentfully, sometimes late … or soon.
We yield because you, beyond us, are our God.
We are your creatures met by your holiness,
by your holiness made our true selves.
And we yield. Amen.

We lost our old friend “Puzzletop”, Ken Blatchford suddenly Saturday night. He was a long time friend of the blog and a dear friend to me personally. Pray for his family…a lot of love for them went home to his Lord. I will miss him much as well…
gently weeps
Praying for our friend’s family.
The news about Ken is sad. I received a Christmas email from him. By “suddenly” do you mean he had a heart attack?
I’m not sure what happened yet.
I talked to his daughter via Facebook this morning, but didn’t think it was time to ask.
Such a king and wise man. I got to know his daughter last year in a graduate class, and yes indeed, he loved his family so much. Many prayers going up for them right now.
such a kind…kind
On Friday I found out a about the death of a sweet friend after beating cancer only to die by complications from treatments within a year of her victory…
On Saturday night I left a wedding to receive a text that my dear elder, friend and intercessor had died alone at home and was found by another elder checking after failed attempts to call,
This morning I heard about Puzzletop
2015 is a cold winter
I weep with undimmed hope
God bless you, BD…and those who mourn with you.
Thank you Michael,
Oh Dread…I’m so sorry.
Ken had a blood clot after an ankle surgery.
That is all I know
Please pray for my dad. Found out he has colon cancer on New Year’s Eve.
Father God, the God that is, the God that knows everyone whether they know You – want to know You – and even those who do not want to know You – Forgive us for asking for things which we do not understand what we are asking for when we ask them only in our own realization of understanding.
Here our prayers as a simple expression that we are aware of the fact that You are the only source we know of to seek in times no worldly person or thing can help us with. Surely Your ultimate will is the best possible answer to all problems. Thank you for your righteous, eternal, sovereign control.
I apologize for becoming what I have become. The only thing I ask for now is that You refurbish me at some time to become closer to what You originally created me to be while I live on this Earth and to make me totally become what You created me to be when I no longer obtain Your breath of life inside this cocoon I live in now.
Holy Spirit, thank you for interpreting the words we express to God, so we can better expose our hearts willingly.
Amen
Praying your father comes through this well Josh and also remembering you and your family.
Thank you E!
I have a praise report which in my world is pretty big. It appears I may have a small tear in/on my rotator cuff. Yesterday I had an MRI where my doctor told me I wouldn’t be in a tube where my head was in the tube.
I showed up yesterday and that wasn’t true. Only by the grace of God did I make it through 45 minutes. There were a few times I thought I was on the verge of a major panic episode but God allowed me to be calm enough to make it through.
Next Monday I will be having a biopsy on my thyroid as there is a nodule that has grown a bit. I would appreciate prayer that I do well during the biopsy. Thank you.
Praying for your biopsy, friend.
PP Folks,
Would you pray for Matthew, who has many health problems and endured surgery for testicular cancer today? He’s only 28 years old and loves the Lord. His spirit is so sweet. Thank you!
