yes, Lord, help us to focus on everything You’ve so graciously revealed to us of Yourself

i must remember the folks up in Ft. McMurray Canada right now – i know what it’s like to have the world around you go up in fire and smoke and yet this wildfire is unimaginably worse – Lord be merciful to us all, but above all, Your will and power be seen and honored by us puny, presumptive and easily distracted humans

we are burning again – a fire just north and another just south and winds of 45mph – prayer appreciated – not imminent danger, just uncomfortable

My first-born son took his life last Sunday. He was 31 years old and serving in the US Army. It has been a week, now, and no words can summarize his life nor express the depth of our loss. Our many friends who knew our son and love my family have rallied around us and surrounded us with caring compassion. In the morning, I fly to Texas with my second son, an Army veteran, to join the memorial service for him at Fort Hood. Meanwhile my wife will travel to Portland to meet the plane that carries his remains. It is a brutal reality that is made bearable only by the assurance that he is at peace in the presence of our Lord.

  12. Em again says:

i pray that God will be to filbert’s family as He was to me when i lost my first-born son… strength, comfort and peace that truly passes understanding – as You cared for me, Lord, i pray You give to these dear souls – “It is a brutal reality that is made bearable only by the assurance that he is at peace in the presence of our Lord.” yes and amen
