Prayer & Praise
“Kingdoms rage … and we are called
Kingdoms rage;
empires tremble;
cities totter.
You speak assurance;
You designate human agents;
You say, “This is my beloved son”;
You say, “This is my anointed.”
Right in the middle of chaos,
you designate human agents who do your will.
And we are not sure:
We would rather it were you,
directly
straight on and visible.
But you stay hidden in your holy spendor,
and we are left with human agents
about whom we are never sure.
So we name Jesus, “son of David”;
so human and frail, even if kicked upstairs;
so vulnerable, even if transformed in song and creed.
And then, in a flash, it may dawn on us:
You call and designate people like us, your agents.
Kingdoms we rage … and we are called.
Empires tremble … and we are designated.
Cities totter … and we are summoned …
like the first David, like the second David …
us, vulnerable, frail, anxious, your people.
And we are dazzled. Amen.”

Pastor Chuck Smith of CCCM has just hit stage four in his battle with cancer according to his daughter on facebook.
Praying for all the pastors represented here. May the Lord bless them, strengthen them and may all they do be done to the glory of God, through Christ our Lord. May His grace, mercy and peace be upon you.
Amen to Nonnie’s prayer.
As to Chuck Smith, I will pray that God’s will be done there. I know sometimes when you are that old and that ill, sometimes it would be more of a blessing to go home to the Lord. But, I don’t know what God has planned so I think asking His will in this is best.

Some of you were praying for my coworker/friend’s mom Barbara.
She passed away this weekend so thought I’d update the thread to ask for prayers for the family.

I’m asking for prayer. It appears as though my boss is preparing to promote me into a management position functioning within areas of responsibilities that are right in my wheelhouse. In a way it’s almost hard to believe this is happening, yet it is. I’m excited but really would appreciate prayer for wisdom and grace for my wife and I during this transition.

I hate to ask for prayer after being so distant on here. The kids have been dominating the computer during the summer! We are headed to NM / CO at 3 am (Saturday) and prayers are appreciated for the drive. we will spend one night in Elk City, OK…so not driving straight through. Still, it is always a bit of an adventure with four kids.
Also, I have been dealing with headaches again. I went to the dr this past week and while he was very pleased with how my heart is acting (after all the drama when Maddie was born, my ekg was “perfect”), he is frustrated by the headaches. He put me on a new daily med and gave me a few samples for emergency meds to try when the headaches come on. I tried one the other day and it did nothing. Tried one today and it completely threw me into a dizzy, nauseous state…which was incredibly frustrating with trying to get ready for the trip. I couldn’t carry Maddie down the stairs after her nap for fear of dropping her…felt completely drugged and just so out of it. It has taken about 6 hours to wear off. Finally feeling better, but stressed with not being ready for the trip. So…prayers all the way around appreciated.
