Prayer & Praise
We confess, when we ponder your large governance, that our “chief end” is to glorify you and enjoy you forever.
We confess that the purpose of our life, purposes twinned, are your glory and our joy.
That is our true end!
But when we come to the end of our work together, and the end of our text together, It strikes us that we know less about “ends” than we imagine.
We sing our explanatory doxologies,
We reiterate our concluding slogan that “thine is the kingdom and the glory and the power.”
We add our confident, loud “Amen” to our best petitions.
But-truth to tell-
We cannot see the end;when we do see the end, we do not know its meaning … whether termination or transition.
And so, like our many fathers and mothers always,
We trust where we cannot see,
eating what we are fed,
taking what of recognition we can muster,
restless and present under a myriad of surveillances,
but finally ceding our end to you, in our simple, final prayer:
Come Lord Jesus.
Come among us,
Come to your church in bewilderment,
Come to our state in its vexation,
Come to our world in its insomnia.
Grant us peace with justice, peace with joy, peace at the last, peace on earth … and glory to you in the highest.
Amen.

Our Father, Lord over all Your Creation, I pray for Your mercies and kindness to be poured out on the people of the Philippines who have suffered such an unspeakable tragedy this weekend. Devastating. My heart mourns for the loss, the grief, the trauma. Bring comfort, bring help, bring healing, bring some manner of hope for these people. Jesus, You are our only Hope in this life and the life to come….. amen
Today it was confirmed our daughter-in-law has miscarried. She is being scheduled for an outpatient procedure to remove the baby. Please pray for Stephen and Christina. If you would please pray for their almost 4 year old son Connor who wants to bring the baby back from Heaven as he is having trouble understanding everything.
Our friend Robert is struggling after the loss of Gunilla last week after 48 years of marriage. He’s lost without her as he struggles to fill his days without her. His three kids are doing everything they can to help him but after this week they will have to return to their work and won’t be able to be with him as much. I’m trying to find my place as his close friend as time moves on.

I am so sorry about the baby, E-runner.
Likewise for Robert. A few at our church are going through that valley too. Loss of spouse after many, many years.
Praying brother.
Thank you Bob, jlo, and Steve. Your prayers mean a lot.
Oh, E…praying for your family and for Connor, for a sense of peace. So tough.
Praying as well for Robert…and for wisdom for you as you walk with him through this grief.
Praying for great mercies today…
I had dinner tonight with a friend I used to work with years ago. She is the boss now at another place I worked for and we talked about a potentially amazing opportunity that may come my way.
Not sure if it will happen, or if it would even be the right move, but it sure would be fantastic if it did.
Can’t be any more detailed than that at the moment, but prayers definitely appreciated.
Thank you Sarah.
