Prayer & Praise
We are a people with many words and much talk:
creeds and
ads and
propaganda and
slogans and
sound bytes.
We keep listening among these words for comfort,
and we find ourselves made
anxious by the cacophony.
And then – the din is broken;
You speak and we enter the zone of address.
You speak and we are called by name.
You name and we are summoned –
summoned, commanded, sent.
We hear and cringe and pause…
overwhelmed by mandate.
We listen and you speak again:
you utter words of presence,
promises of protection,
assurances of solidarity.
We breathe easier, still afraid,
but on our way, at risk, not alone.
Give us good ears in these days,
that we may hear the mandate
and listen for assurance.
That even such as us may speak you well,
you in your sovereignty,
you in your fidelity,
you in your sadness,
and in your newness.
Let your word be fleshed through our tongues and
on our lips,
that our fleshed verbiage may truly echo
your word made flesh via Nazareth.

What a gorgeous day, off to CCF to get my worship on, then lunch with friends.
Praying for all.
Pray for our children.
Just had a brief chat with SC who labored greatly in prayer for many here a while back. Rejoicing but wanting to be discrete. There is a hope renewed and a heart re-opening, even though there are present hardships and heartaches.
So we can pray into a good report
Thank you for sharing that Victorious….. SC is much loved and missed….. adding prayers.
glad for the update. Praying.
one of my son’s best friends, a young man who has grown up without a dad & is like one of our family, was the driver in a single vehicle fatal crash last night. He was injured & one of his passengers was thrown from the vehicle and died. It is a very trying and difficult situation. Please pray for everyone involved.
Fil, praying for your son’s friend. Love to SC.

This is the perfect prayer for me this week. Going to print it out and keep it with me. I’m actually off from work this week. The rest of my family is not, so I’m taking advantage and going on a personal retreat. I’ll be spending 3 nights in a cabin in Payson, AZ, part of what’s known as Rim Country. No TV, cell phone, internet. Just me, my Bible, a journal, and a few other books I’ve been waiting to read. Time in the porch swing, walks along the creek.
I would appreciate prayer for this time. I really need to “enter the zone of address.” I plan to do more listening than talking. I’m desperate to hear God call me by name, to be “summoned, commanded, sent.”
CK,
You will have it, my friend…

Some good news…Baby Andrew, the little baby here in my town who had a heart transplant, is finally going home. He has never left the hospital…in 8 months. Today it is a gloriously sunny Fall day and we are all celebrating. I’ll post the link…the FB video is set to public, so everyone should be able to see (his daddy is singing):

The little boy, Lane, who Michael mentioned in the post the other day, is not doing very well. He had a very tough day yesterday, but they posted last night that he was alert for a little bit. Praying for mercy for this family…such an incredibly tough thing to endure.

From Puzzletop:
“Yo, pp family! Erunner is in bad shape. He has been in bed for a day and a half and is passing kidney stones. He is feeling anxious, abandoned and a Christian failure. Keep our brother in prayer right now. Thanks. Pzz”
Lane passed away last night at almost 8pm Central time.
Sarah, so sorry. I’m at a loss for words…Lane was far too young. Lifting a prayer now for his family. May God’s peace comfort them as they mourn his loss.
