At this point my mom is not getting better … I’m not sure if she has the strength to fight this nasty infection. She was getting better until a few days ago when she started having trouble holding any food down … most likely from the antibiotics … a common thing with her. Since then all her counts are not good … plus her heart has acted up a few times. It now seems to be a race to get her off the antibiotics … but they can’t do it yet because the infection flared back up again. Anyway … things do not look good. Please pray … especially that she isn’t in any pain or frightened. Thanks … you all are the best!

  2. Linnea says:

Nancy…praying for you and your Mom this morning.
Lord, I pray for Nancy’s mom, for strength to rally from this infection, for peace and comfort and release from pain. Lord, please help Nancy to continue to navigate with your wisdom and grace. Please give her rest and comfort and encouragement that can only come from you. Amen.

  3. Another Voice says:

What a great prayer by Bernard of Clairvaux, to be reminded of as I go to minister the Word of God to His people this morning. So glad I looked in, as I usually don’t on Sunday morning. I guess God ‘led’ me to do so πŸ˜‰

As the American church so often talks about the ‘needs’ of the people, it is so important (to me) to remember what their REAL need is this Sunday.

  4. Em says:

“What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep in the heart of my soul,
So secure that no power can mine it away,
While the years of eternity roll!

    Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
    In fathomless billows of love!”

praying for this deep, mysterious peace to settle us all today

  5. Nonnie says:

praying here too Nancy. how are you holding up?

  9. Sarah says:

Hey Nancy, praying for great peace for you this evening. May God’s strength and grace be tangible to you in this time, and I pray as well that He will strengthen your mother. Praying that she knows Jesus in a tender and deep way in these moments, and that God protects you from all fear or anxiety.

    Will be lifting you up.

  10. nancy says:

Thanks for all the prayer. My mom had a little bit of a better day today … she was able to eat a little fruit … yeah!!! The other praise is my brother who is not usually very helpful was actually a big help today. That is a huge miracle! Very good timing because not only do I really fail with helping with the upset tummy thing but I’m really drained & exhausted on top of that. I still can’t get over this cold thing completely … still wakes me up at night … uggg. Anyway … my other brother who is usually the one I can count on & is usually helpful when needed also has a nasty chest cold he can’t shake. He hasn’t visited mom for fear it may be a different strain of cold & that is the last thing mom needs … so that left my other brother … usually not good but praise God he has been a real help!!! Anyway … thanks for prayer … I sooooo can feel it!!!

Hey all…I have an interview tomorrow— would you all pray for a positive outcome?

  16. Michael says:

  17. Rob Murphy says:

Nene – I updated on the last week’s prayer thread that God has worked a miracle on my shoulder and that I slept – wait for it – in a bed! this week, laying down on a pillow! ( I know!) and brushed my teeth without crying! I think it was Mon. or Tue that I tried to update, I’m sorry I haven’t been better about updating, it is due to a brutal trial at our church and busy-ness, not ingratitude.
Thank you so much for your prayers, I am amazed and trying to be wise about not pushing it and so thankful for all your prayers!!

  18. jlo says:

    linnea, praying.

Rob– such great news about your shoulder. Praying for your trials at church.

Sarah- praying now for your journey today…

All, thank you for your prayers– I so appreciate them.

  22. deadmanwalking says:

could really use prayer right now. We got Debbie on an HMO (I still have no insurance) and we have to jump through all the HMO hoops so she is overdue for her Botox and in a lot of pain right now. I’m still in pain and take any two people who are both in pain lock them in a house together it gives our enemy a real playground. to mess with our emotions. So pray that this HMO will approve her treatments. These Botox treatment really are a matter of life or death as Debbie’s muscles around her chest get tighter and tighter she gets to where she cannot breath, and she is close to that point now. The treatments are thousands of dollars several times a year. One way or another I will get her in. But when she get the shots she is usually in pain from the shots and then it takes a couple of weeks for the full effect to kick in.

Thanks in advance — we really are under siege right now. We have an enemy who never lets up and never takes a vacation. So pray for our spiritual safety as well as the medical insurance to do the right thing.

I know praying for an HMO to do the right thing is like asking for the impossible.

  23. Erunner says:

I just spoke with my sister about Jeff. Today as my sister was exercising his arm she told him to push back and he did! He is still in a coma and on a ventilator but within the week should be getting transferred to the city we grew up in which is a few miles from here. They will work on removing him from the ventilator. Please pray that God would allow Jeff to come back from his coma with minimal damage.

Praying for Sarah, Nancy, and DMW. Rob, it’s awesome to receive a good report. God bless.

  24. jlo says:

  25. Em says:

praises for mercies and blessings and praying continues

  26. Linnea says:

DMW…praying for you and Debbie this evening and for a breakthrough with the HMO.

  27. Nene says:

Lord, I ask you to provide all the treatment needed for Debbie, and speed the time for her treatments. Lord please ease Debbie’s pain, may she sleep well tonight. May Your hand be upon this situation, and guide all involved. I pray that the HMO involved will do what is right. Lord give an abundance of the wisdom to the medical staff, and admins. Lord please help this family, help them get the proper medical care, and give them peace of mind and heart.

Be with DMW Lord… he is going through his own physical issues. Help him Lord. Help he and Debbie deal with the physical pains that the enemy uses against them. May Your peace prevail in this home. I ask this in Jesus name, amen.

  28. Jessica Menn says:

    I’m praying, DMW.

  29. Erunner says:

Maybe a month ago I met with a man after our mens study. He had a lot of issues and appeared to almost be homeless. As we talked I could see this man had a lot of issues going on. It was good to be able to sit and let him talk and the more he shared I felt badly for him.

Last night at mens study he pulled me aside and shared how he had been to the singles group. He was sharing with a few women and as he said using words like co-dependent and other psychological buzz words. He’s intelligent and expresses himself well.

He then says a woman introduced herself as a counselor and shook his hand. As she clutched his hand she asked if maybe she had found the person to lead a study on boundaries or something along that line. He seems very excited about this and he says it may very well happen.

I got a sinking feeling in my stomach and didn’t say much at all. Is this a situation where you just keep quiet and let God work this all out or do I share my concerns with somebody? I don’t want to hurt this man but confess to being quite conflicted. Prayers and your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

  30. Em says:

Erunner, is there a sister you know who could take this woman aside and get some insight on her motives?
amen to the prayers expressed above and praying for all (Lord, special mercies and grace for John and Debbie now? thank You Lord)

  31. Erunner says:

Em, I don’t know who the woman is who spoke to him. He did speak with the men’s pastor about this and he’s the one I was thinking of approaching. I’m just not sure if it’s my place to do so.

Just got home a while ago from seeing my urologist. It appears I still may have kidney stones as I’m passing crystals. My PSA is a good number but more than doubled from my last visit. I’ll be getting a renal ultrasound next week. I’m on antibiotics for a week then will have another PSA test. If the PSA is still high I will have a biopsy. He also wants to look at my bladder after these tests. After my last visit everything was great. I’m hoping this all works out and they can take care of my issues.

  32. Em says:

reading the list again tonight and praying for guidance and healings, mercies and miracles for sisters and moms and husbands and wives…
the families of all who come here

God keep all close and comforted, sure of Your love and sufficiency

  33. jlo says:

Erunner, trust your gut on this one, start with the men’s pastor and take it from there.

  34. jlo says:

    Erunner, praying for your issues.

  35. deadmanwalking says:

Debbie is getting worse by the day, and I am worn down and don’t have the fight left in me to fight an HMO. She is too ill to run her to the different doctors that the HMO wants to me to do bafore they will approve her going to Loma Linda for her Botox treatment,

she is getting to the point that she almost can’t talk for lack of breath, and I don’t know what to do.. I’m in for an all night watch with her hoping she will improve a little. After the last time I took her to an ER she will never go again willingly. I am at a loss and just need prayer if anyone is awake

    John Duncan

  36. BrianD says:

  37. deadmanwalking says:

    thank you BrianD

  38. deadmanwalking says:

Debbie’s breathing is a little better, she is resting, I am still going to be up on watch until I see she keep breathing normal for a while – thanks again BrianD

  39. BrianD says:

jd, check in when you can.

  40. deadmanwalking says:

Debbie’s been sleeping and breathing normal for a couple hours now. My turn to nap for a little while. The crisis is seems past for today

  41. Erunner says:

I’m sorry John. Praying for you both.

  42. deadmanwalking says:

Debbie is doing a little better. I’m still concerned — isn’t is strange how things get worse at night, so please pray that she doesn’t crash again tonight. Thanks for your prayers.

  43. dusty says:

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing of the wound of my people?

  44. dusty says:

Heal me; O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the one I praise.

  45. dusty says:

I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred…

  46. dusty says:

Father, You are our balm of Gilead. You are our Healer. You are the Help we need into the pool of Healing waters.

Lord, so many of my dear friends, my family here at PP are wounded and ill.

Is it Your wrath, or from someone else? Please remember Your mercy.

is it dumb luck? Remember Your plan.

is it a curse? Remember You said, ” no weapon fashioned against us shall prosper/”

Heavenly Father, no matter the cause, please have mercy, touch my brothers and sisters in their pain, in their struggle, hear our cry oh Lord. please. hear us…

  47. Glenn says:

I have been and will continue to pray for you and Debbie.
It seems that things get worse and night and weekends, too.
Thanks to Dusty for those verses.

  48. Dusty says:

Glenn, πŸ™‚ there anything we can pray for you about?

  49. Glenn says:

Thanks for asking. I am taking care of my 86 year old mother. She has
lots of pains and aches and not much energy. She has a good appetite,
which is good, but sleeps a lot – an hour at a time. So – she could use some
prayer and I could too, for wisdom and strength. Thanks………….

  50. Dusty says:

you got it Glenn. Do me a favor…don’t forget to take care of yourself…our head knows that we need to…but we ALWAYS forget …your mom needs you well. so do we.

Thanks for joining us all in prayer.

  51. Em says:

    praying for all

  52. victorious says:

DMW: John. I am home from work by 3Pm ish. If having another body and being such as myself available to you can help ease taking Debbie to a Dr. appointment and assessment then let me know. Send me a note on FB.

I will be out tonite at a home fellowship. I will send you my cell # through FB.

    Yes praying too.

  53. nancy says:

I’m coming in a little late but … praying now …. and will continue to pray through the night. I’ll be praying for you both ….

    Praying ….

Oh … and listen to Dusty … don’t forget to take care of yourself too.

  54. nancy says:

My mom had a difficult few days but is now doing better again. The last couple of good days have been good … she’s eating again & all her counts are headed in the right direction. Yikes … what a roller coaster ride this has been. Hopefully she will not have anymore turns for the worst. Seems she is once again fighting the infection. Thanks for all the prayer …

  55. Dusty says:

Nancy, are you listening to me? πŸ˜‰ hope you are taking care of you

  56. nancy says:

I’m trying. πŸ™‚ Both my brothers have been taking turns with my mom. With all of us dealing with mom in the hospital it’s much better. I get a little bit of a much needed break. I confess … I’m still fighting this nasty cold. I’m getting better but slowly. Same with the rest of my crew. Oh … and now I’m breaking out in hives … haven’t had them in years but when I’m really stressed & have to keep functioning as if I’m not … HIVES … yikes … no fun. But … I’m trying … really I am. πŸ™‚

  57. Glenn says:

Thanks for your prayers. I have been praying for you, too, Nancy and your
mother. By the way Jessica is just a couple of weeks from being home, and
Abby will be stopping in Cape Town for autopilot repairs. Those two are amazing.
Yep, we all need to take care of ourselves! πŸ™‚

  58. Em says:

Dusty, i say ‘amen, Lord let it be’ with all your prayers that i read here and am in agreement with your advice to Nancy – that said, i think one of the hardest things to pull off is to take care of yourself when you are a caregiver – more so when it’s someone you love and wouldn’t have anyone else doing the job for you – praying with you

BTW – DM’s long night mentioned above – was i the only one that was awake in the middle of that night and aware of a need to be before the Lord in prayer?
sometimes you’re awake and don’t know why and then is a good time to get out your list and take them all before the Throne (the devil hates it when we do that πŸ˜‰ )
    wish i was a stronger pray-er, tho

  59. Nene says:

DMW, I am just so sorry..I just read your post from last night/this morning….please know you both are in my prayers.

    Glenn and Nancy..praying….

  60. Erunner says:

I was able to see Jeff for the first time since his accident today. They approved his move and he’s a matter of minutes from here. He’s in a place called Care Meridian and they have only ten beds and have an excellent reputation.

When I walked in the room I got close to Jeff and his eyes tracked me and it sure seemed he recognized my voice. It also appeared he was trying to mouth words.

The goal for him while there is to get him off the ventilator so he’s breathing on his own. If he makes progress he will stay 100 days.

My sister has lost weight but her spirits are great. Her trust in God is a testament to His grace. She stays with Jeff 4-5 hours a day. She does homework and talks to him and works to stimulate him. His rock and roll was playing in the background.

The facility is less than a mile from the home we grew up in and our grade school is maybe 100 yards away.

Julie will be staying with my mother throughout the week and return home weekends. I told Jeff about you guys praying for him. Thank you.

  61. Sarah says:

Could use some prayers at the moment if anyone is up…

  62. Erunner says:

    Praying Sarah

  63. Em says:

lifting Sarah to the Father’s throne

remembering, too, all who are under similar burdens this nite

    more grace, Lord

  64. deadmanwalking says:

Thanks for your prayers. Tonight is better so far. But last night it was about 11 when things really went south.

Vic – thanks for the offer. Most of the help I need needs to be from a sister. I can get Debbie to the doctors, it just that she is not well enough to go to multiple the appointments in order to get several referrals before they will pay for expensive treatments. It as simple as the dollar sign. They see big numbers and apply their stall and delay tactic. ..

The won’t deny because there is a process you can use, instead insurance companies stall. To do all they can to keep their money as long as they can. Right now they Debbie’s doctor requested that she be able to go to her pain and spasticity specialist, so instead of giving the green light on that they say she need to go to a local neurologist because most neurologist use Botox in small amounts for migraines and a few other things. But their treatments usually involve a few shots. Debbie gets 5 vials in about 20 to 25 spots which is about 20 time the amount of Botox the usual neurologist uses for a migraine. In other words they just look at dollar signs and seen that most neurologist treatments take about 200 dollars worth of Botox, whereas Debbie’s pain specialist take like 4000 dollars worth of Botox. That’s the problems when accountants are the ones making medical decisions.

And for the last 30 years I caught on to there delay tactics. If they can keep 4 or 5k in the bank an extra couple of months times the hundreds of patents in need the interest alone put millions of dollars every year by using their delay tactic..

I doubt most people follow how these insurance companies operate, but one company got caught through someone who took their internal memos and proved that the CEO knew that if they stalled that a significant number of people died while waiting and they won’t have to pay at all. In that case which was in Texas the head guys did jail time. The only difference between what happened in Texas and what happens all the time is the CEO got smart enough to not put anything in writing when they develop their policies of forcing people to do another test, then see another doctor, anything to stall and put off paying the bills for expensive treatments.

So that is why I say medical insurance companies are evil. They know their policies kill people, and that is why they have those policies in place.

I know how to work the system, and if I can get a little sleep I’ll go to war with them tomorrow.

  65. Erunner says:

Excellent report from my sister today.

“Well, they have taken Jeff off of the ventilator several times today with great success! He is breathing really well on his own, however since he was on the vent for two months it will be a process. I am soooooo grateful for the care that he is getting! And thankful for the prayers that continue. You All have been such a wonderful support to me and my family. I and we will forever be grateful.”

  66. Believe says:

DMW praying for you and all the others on this thread.

It is evil and heartless what the Big Corporations get away with…all for their mighty god…the all powerful dollar.

  67. Erunner says:

I was able to speak today with a pastor regarding my prayer request on post # 30. My concerns were appreciated and it turned out that the decision had already been made by the pastoral counselor to not place this man in a teaching position. I shared no details about why I believe as I do. Thanks jlo for encouraging me to follow my gut feelings.

  68. deadmanwalking says:

Things are better today – got some rest.

We have a new girl working for us her name is Cami so pray for her. She is working out really well and is one of the kids from the church that I’ve known since she was born. She all grown up going to college and is now working a for us a few days a week during the day.

When Cami was a baby she was terrified of me and would cry every time she saw me for over a year. Now she just gets the hiccups when I am around her. At least she doesn’t burst into tears πŸ™‚

  69. BrianD says:

John, if nothing else you have a sure-fire way to know she is around πŸ˜‰

  70. Erunner says:

    Sarah… praying things are well.

    Nene, e-mail me please.

  71. Nene says:

Sir Erunner, the mails in the mail! πŸ™‚ soon!

  72. Nene says:

Hi all, I am asking for prayer for my dad again…we had a good phone conversation today about God. My dad will not say Jesus, he told me he prayed last night, and does not believe God could love him…I tried my best to talk to him, and I am not too great at doing so.

I would really appreciate prayer for his salvation.

Dad tends to associate believers with a political party, and not being able to question anything. I could hear his heart really struggling to somehow believe….he has had some bad experiences, and associates it with believing. So it seems…

The good news is he can stay living on the farm for now. God has His plan I know…
Many, many thanks for listening, you all are so appreciated by me.

  73. Em says:

praying for your dad, nene – Lord be real and personal to this child. Quicken his heart to embrace You as Immanuel and Savior. Take good care of nene as she has burdens of her own. It’s not easy, Lord, but You bore the worst of it and You are so faithful to give to each day what You know is needed for each one walking thru the enemy’s attacks. Prosper young Cami as she works in the Duncan home. Thank You. Father, Son and Holy Spirit – thank You so very much.
