Remember and Honor

When I visit national cemeteries I wonder what the dead think of the living. I wonder if they think it was worth it to die as they did. I wonder what we think they died for. I wonder if the honor ascribed to those who “died to make us free” represents why they really died. These things looked clearer in an age of more innocence or naïveté. Probably shouldn’t wonder aloud.

I have family members in those places one not far away.

Of course the Christian hope makes these questions of mine sound ridiculous. Doesn’t stop the questions. One day it will.

    I echo your questions.
On Memorial Day I remember and pray for those who died by their own hand as a result of their service…I know of too many.
