TGIF
It had been a rough week for Miss Kitty.
She had a bad respiratory infection then when that cleared up a bit, she started having problems with her back end.
She walks a bit, then her legs go out from under her and she has to lay down.
I carry her when she can’t motor about.
She’ll limp up to me and indicate where she wants to go and I take her there…we all need some help when we get older.
The other night her and Chester had finished dinner and she plopped down in the middle of the floor, waiting for me to lift her up on to the bed.
Chester walked up to her and began to groom her.
How sweet, I thought to myself.
Then he tried to kill her.
One paw holding down her head, the other her body, back legs wrapped around her and teeth about to sink into her neck.
I barely got him off of her in time.
Chester then found out there was a bigger cat than him…
Why…why in the world would he do such a terrible thing?
Because it’s his nature.
In the wild among his kind the weak and the sick are dispatched by the strong.
There was an infirm animal in his territory and he was going to do what comes naturally to him.
Kill it.
It’s his nature.
Chester has been forgiven his horrible sin, (more fully by me, than by Miss Kitty) even though I was tempted to do him in for it.
I know that it’s my nature too.
Yours as well.
We may not physically kill others, but we’re as fallen as Chester.
We execute with words and withheld affection, with coolness and lack of compassion.
Our victims only die inside.
I was shocked by his behavior as I wiped the hot saliva off Miss Kitty’s throat and comforted her after the attack.
I wonder who comforts those who I wound.
I wonder who is supposed to comfort me.
I have long since stopped being shocked by my own behavior…or yours.
They call this part of our nature the old man…and we’re supposed to put him to death and walk in newness of life.
I serve the old man coffee and we talk about how the new man is a dullard who lacks understanding of the world.
I am Chester…
That’s why I forgave him.
I know there’s a bigger cat than me…and He has forgiven me.
You too.
Chester has behaved well since this incident.
I haven’t changed much.
Make your own application…
The Gospel According to Sinful Cats and their sinful humans.
“I know there’s a bigger cat than me…and He has forgiven me.”
We are in the midst of cat drama here too…. very distressing. Keeps us seeking The Great Cat…
love ya
Paige,
Thank you…and praying for your problem child as well…
Interesting read – watching a similar scenario where I live… aging cat and heretofore cowed younger cat… the tables are turning and the younger is showing a very evil side of her nature…
I wonder how often we ascribe virtue to an underdog, show concern and pity for a timid soul, who is really not as nice as we thought…
good to have an update on the cats and a new comparison to ponder
Michael, may you always feel free to keep musing because it is well received and I love you bro. On another note, you being my online pastor, I request prayer, still processing Ephesians 6. Young daughter got baptized recently. Little prayer warrior she is…my other little one, 5 is still is the making. However, this week, Monday after he peacefully went to bed, he was screaming upstairs, he was in a zombie state, curled up in a ball, still in a catatonic state, saying something was attacking him. He did not even acknowledge our initial prayers nor presence. Thinking nightmare, he slept with me for 3 nights. Last night, again in his bed, sound asleep, the attacks came and the wee one was unresponsive until I grabbed him, took him downstairs where he slept peacefully. I am still processing these dark attacks since they are unlike anything I have experienced. Prayers guys…it is unfair for a 5 yr old to be attacked….
prodinov,
My heart goes out to you…prayers as well.
Keep us posted.
I don’t know that my memory is to be trusted, however I seem to remember that fear Sarah, who used to be a regular here for a time, posted of her child going thru what prodinov’s describing … ? …
Prodinov, praying for your family
Michael, praying for your little ones.
Paige, praying for bella as well
I didn’t type “fear Sarah!” dear Sarah sorry I missed that one. . this pad “corrected” Jean to read Irac and Duane to Disney – I caught those two sigh
Thank you for the prayers for my Bella—who had her tumor surgery (again) yesterday…today, she is ‘resting comfortably’….on drugs…our excellent feline vet is very hopeful for no recurrence…
On the other hand, our problem child Rocky needs to find a new home…. we are at the end of patience with his attacking our other cats… sheesh…. constant drama…
first world problems..
Prodinov, prayers for your son….perhaps time for a legit ‘exorcism’ of the house… and rearranging of his room…. and a trip to the doctor. Bless your heart….
Paige, you are wise to relocate your little perp… years ago we had a neighborhood “terrorist” – our vet (cat specialist) advised trapping it and taking it to the animal shelter as it was causing some serious harm even tho it was somebody’s pet…
Exorcism would make an interesting open blog topic… IMHO
yes, it would be an interesting subject. I lived in Ashland, Oregon for 25 years and saw some legit scary evil there. Jesus Is Victorious and spiritual warfare is not to be trifled with.
Thanks for the feedback on my ‘bad kitty’…. I would love to rehome him… he’s so good in so many ways, but so aggressive that it makes our other cats nervous wrecks….
